Canucks will make the playoffs for sure, but then get beat in the playoffs easily because they lack depth. And the Sedins slow down in the playoffs.
- Allstarzz

Actually they don't, they've always maintained almost a PPG average over their careers. But they can't carry a team all by themselves.

Sedins, Kesler, Burrows at two million, Bieksa, Hamhuis, Edler could have got more on the open market. All decent contracts.

On the flip side he royally screwed up with Luongo's contract, taking on Booth's contract and taking on Ballard's contract.

- LeftCoaster

you nucks fans are starting to really lose touch with reality

kesler for instance.. he signed for 5million AFTER his first 70+ point season

he only achieved that once more

so, in the 2 years kesler has been under this contract he has averaged 61 points per season (not tallying this one, that wouldnt be fair).. 5million for a 60 point forward? thats not a discount

bieska? 4.6million cap hit? thats fair.. that not what i call a bargain.. also heavily front loaded

i could go on but i am not going to.. you nucks fans really need to stop thinking your players signed at massive discounts.. cause they most certainly did not

Nucks are one of the wealthiest teams, I don't see them balking at it, although I don't see them being happy with giving millions away either??? Who knows.
- LeftCoaster

Giving away millions to have Lu sign with the Hawks for 1 mil a year, so the Canucks can pay him to beat them on a regular basis for years to come.

Nonis - Cammelleri might be available. Could be the number one centre they need. Richmond Hill boy!

I would be very nervous asking my bosses for that kind of money after I had so badly managed the situation. I actually think a trade with very little return is more likely

Meh....that's one good NHL kid so far, and it's early on him too. Time will tell, Gillis drafted Cody Hodgson who's a PPG player. That's one good kid in five years as well.
- LeftCoaster

Gillis an overrated gm. He has Burke and Nonis' core players, and can't build around it. The Ballard trade was terrible, and then he trades Hodgson for a 3rd line pylon. I think he mishandled the Luongo situation as well. He should have just traded him for whatever he can get, noone is going to overpay for him now. Look at the cap situation next season.

Again it's not the point totals im talking about. Ovechkin has great stats in the playoffs but people think he can't deliver in the playoffs. You watch the Kings series last season, the Sedins got manhandled. Same with the Boston series.

All we have to do is win this game 17-0 and the +/- will be even.

To be fair the Kings manhandled every team they faced last year.

We got Boston killer Kadri!! The last game in Boston, the Leafs deserved at least a point. They played really well.

Kesler is one of the best two way forwards in the league when healthy, there's no denying that. Most in NHL circles would agree with that. He brings a two way game and he's good at it, simply looking at his point totals is misleading. He's a very good second line centre!

It's amazing what 1 win vs the Bruins does the optimism of Leaf fans on this site.

Kinda make me worried, as in the past whenever Leaf fans are happy, the team screws the pooch and brings back to blowing up the team in short order.

Deadline is still around the corner.

Could trade for the Flames 1st rounder....send Liles/Bozak and MacA, make Feaster think they're still playoff contenders.
