Don't get me wrong, I am riding the high as well. Past experience dictates that it will be ripped away from me before long. But yes, this team under RC seems to heading in the right direction. Finally.

They aren't there yet and still struggle defensively at times, but they're improving.

FFS, our Penalty Kill actually kills penalties now. Last year when we had a penalty called against us everyone sighed and just figured it was an automatic goal against.

sure.. but i wouldnt say 5million is a bargain

thats the point i was trying to make.. you dont get big bucks for being a shutdown guy

5million is a fair price tage for him.. but its no bargain

- Dozzer

My thoughts are someone would've paid him more on the open market at the time, so IMO it's a good deal. Just wish the injury bug would leave him alone!

He has a great work ethic and whenever I watch Nucks games, not very often so don't think I'm a specialist, he's one of the more noticeable players. At 5M I think it's the perfect price. He's a great 2nd line C. The only point I wanted to make is that we have Grabo who makes 500k more and is playing a 3rd line checking role. I'd take a healthy Kesler over a healthy Grabo 6 days of the week.
- Unholy_Forward

and i think too many people are willing to throw grabo to the wolves because he hasnt had the offense this year.

he is learning the role of a shutdown centre.. and his offense is just now starting to come around

but.. this is toronto.. a player slumps or has an off year he becomes a useless overpaid bum

Leaf penalty last year meant going and grabbing a beer to drown the sorrow of the upcoming goal against.

i wouldnt say that

kesler is good.. but he is over rated imo

- Dozzer

How is he overrated? I really don't know too much about the guy. Know he's been having a lot of injury problems but other then that it's just the 10-15 Nuck games I see on HNIC.

5million is not a deal.. its fair value

Agree, they are still precariously hanging on to leads. Would love to see a few games where they just shut the door on opponents when going into the 3rd with the lead.

because i doubt he ever cracks the 70P plateau again

had a couple good years and now he's back down to earth

50P two way forward is what he is

RC said the other night he has to produce more and he would like 3 scoring lines a-la most stanley cup champs. He can't be shutting down guys for that kind of money. Shut down is a silly term in hockey anyway. Isn't the point that you want to spend your time in the other teams end trying to score regardless? Wouldn't that be the best defense?

Not just Toronto.
I love Grabo's game, he's all heart. It just seems that since that glorious year with Kule getting 30 and MacA having a career year that he has completely slipped. I think it's his wife.

not to mention 90% of his faceoffs are in the defensive zone

carlyle doesnt use him in the primary offensive situations.. but everyone expects him to produce.. its absurd

You are looking for Lupul, he is back tonight. Kessel is the trigger, he does not need one on his line. Cammy is only a trigger, and has other issues.
- bixll

Like how feminine he looks...not that there's anything wrong with that.

I say 65P two way 2nd line C.
Still better then Grabo, overrated sure, but still better.

He did earlier in the year. Kadri took over, whats he gonna do, not put the other two lines ahead of him? He got outplayed plain and simple, meanwhile his old linemates have moved on quite well. I always liked the guy but he was pushed down by better play around him.

he most certainly did not

carlyle has matched him against opposition top lines from game 1 on.

he has been used a shutdown player.. he got very few looks in offensive situations

He is also the most noticeable player on the ice every shift he plays. I don't see any real difference in his game from last year when most guys on here were saying he was one of the Leafs best forward. All heart etc. etc.

What a load of total BS! I love Leaf fans. Other players who floundered like this would be getting their heads chewed off but somehow Grabovski is out of that realm. So your saying RC is telling the media he has to produce and then screwing him over. He's been saying it for a month man, c'mon!
