It's a loser point. The loser never recieved a point for losing until this SO crap started. - imsorry66
Once again....... its not a loss. Its a shootout loss, which shouldn't exist to begin with. |
|
|
|
Wrong IMHO a shoot out shouldn't be 2 points for the winner, it's really a weiner point for the winner - but it keeps the league tight and revenues up!!! - Garnie
If they gonna have shootouts as part of the game than fine award 2pts to the winner and the loser gets 0...
It's that or drop it and go back to having ties ... |

As long as the shootout exist/counts someone ends up losing..2pts for winner 0 for loser.. |

Here's the broke ass math.
How many points does a team get for a Win? 2
How many points does a team get for a Loss? 0
How many points does a team get for an OT Win? 2
How many points does a team get for an OT loss? 1
So a win is a win no matter what but sometimes you can "lose better" or something?!?
- BlowMonkey
do you guys even remember why the loser point was established?
teams would go into OT and just stay in a defensive shell.. because neither team wanted to risk losing the tie point
it was some of the most boring ass hockey that has ever been played. |

Exactly. My preference is go back to having a tie. The game was played for 60 minutes. Tied score. No need to force a win, by having a shootout.

....all they did is moved that to the last 10 minutes of the 3rd period in tie hockey games now....no difference. |

You're right, it was.
They should either eliminate the OT period and have ties. Orrrrrrrrrrrr, they go 4 on 4, then 3 on 3, until somebody scores.
3pts awarded in a game creates tight standings. I know this is what the league wants, but from a pure hockey traditionalist point of view, it is flat out wrong. |

They will never do that because they know its totally frankn stupid to award a team 2 points more than a team they beat in a stupid shoot out. The fans love the shoot out so for now it's not going anywhere - rules same for every team so we have to suck it up!!!
I already mentioned the shoot out victories should be a separate column for year end tie breaking etc!!!! That's not going to happen either!!!! |

I fine with that as well..
It's stupid to have a game with a winner and no loser...

So I watched a stream of the NESN coverage of the game last night, and wow was that absolutely brutal. They literally made fun of Reimer and his over sized equipment. Constantly said that Kadri was diving, and made fun of Kessel for not engaging Chara physically. Every Bruin player on the ice was apparently a hockey god compared to any of the Leafs the entire game. I know that the Leafs commentators get bashed all the time, but never do anything close to that. |

What was wrong with last nights game?
It was back and fort, well for some part - it wasn't certainly boring like 99% of sens games....oh wait maybe its just Denis Potvin and his annoying monotone homerisms that make it boring????? |

They already sort of are....the first tie breaker is regulation+overtime wins. Unless you mean, offering no points for the shootout win, but still using them as a tie breaker at the end. |

i dont agree but whatever.
i remember it clearly
teams would just skate to the redline and dump it in.. most overtimes went without a single shot being taken |

These 3pts we got from Boston will mean absolutely nothing if the leafs lose against the panthers and canes.
They need at least another 3pts over the next two games.....a lost to the panthers is simply not acceptable. |

I agree, I also assume that Frattin will draw into the lineup in the place of either Mclaren or Orr to provide some jump. When we lost the second of a back to back there had been no line up changes, when we win there are lineup changes. Hopefully Carlyle sees that the need for 2 enforcers is not needed tonight - I do however think it was needed against Boston! |

Bingo.
Have a 5 min of 4 on 4 and than 5 mins of 3 x 3.
Someone is bound to score...if not both teams lose a point.

Anyone else think Blacker gets his NHL debut tonight against Florida? Problem is, Kostka had a pretty decent game last night. |

Yes get Frattin back in and sit Orr.
In fact going down the stretch, I'd be happy to see less of Orr. |
