I'm pretty indifferent, particularly because there's not a lot of options around, even less so when he was made Captain. And unless we're signing a Morrow or Iginla in the off-season, I don't see anyone else capable of assuming the role.

and that i don't disagree with. i don't hate the lupul suggestion, but i think ripping the C off of a player just to put it on another does nothing to help the team. if phaneuf was traded, i wouldn't be opposed to putting the C on lupul, but i agree, not a whole lot to work with.

hate the loser point myself.

- scotch_tape

Yeah I hate it too, ever since they brought in the lameout I've been saying go to ten minutes OT, get rid of the lameout, and back to wins, losses, and ties

Right and that's why I think Phaneuf wanted to jump in and assist; if Gardiner had his man, Phaneuf sticks to Bergeron. It was the wrong play, I'm saying both are at fault, but if Gardiner has his man or at least ties him up, Phaneuf doesn't hesitate...
- gravyface

for sure, i'm more than open to the idea that you're right here.

but i think it means little at the end of the day. these plays are going to happen with gardiner, they may just happen with reilly to. strong defense along the boards against a guy like dougie hamilton is not why we get amped up about having young players with their level of talent.

Should try that with the draft, best teams pick 1st. That would screw up the Oilers 12 year plan
- cdjaakkola

That would be ridiculous

I still think that the bottom 10 teams should get an equal chance at the 1rst overall and the other 4 teams that don't make the playoffs still have a chance at it but less of one.

Yeah, I know, last night about 12:30AM, we chatted. It was a natural. The bastard children of the loser point got their nightly pablum.

I would love to see the 3 point game... win in reg score 3 points.. win in OT or shootout 2, Tie only gets you one point.

This would convince players to go for the 3 in Reg because they want to compete... no freezing the game in the 3rd to tie and sit and hope for the best...

Teams that aim for loser points like the Habs excel.. where really the teams trying to in in in Reg should be rewarded.

Shots for: Montreal 6th overall
Shots against: Montreal 6th overall
Shot differential: Montreal 3rd overall

one of the most aggressive, puck-control teams in the NHL.

aside from that you're right

It's cool, sixth place looks okay, I don't want to beat Montreal until the second round

I believe the NBA has a weighted lottery like this where teams can move up and fall. Where you draft isn't set in stone.

It's one of the few decent aspects of the NBA.

People talk about the pick the Leafs gave up, being Dougie Hamilton. But if the Leafs had taken that pick, they'd have picked some other stiff that wouldn't have done anything.

I don't see what that has to do with aiming for the loser point, maybe if you broke it up by period.

I know that was a jab at somebody on here, but Gardiner really hasn't been that good. A few nice breakout plays, but he's not exactly lugging it up the ice like Bobby Orr every shift.

Looks scared/hesitant in his own end more often that not.

Oh well, tons of pressure, idiot agent didn't help anything either; stirred up a poop storm for really no reason at all.

Sophomore slump, and would probably be a different story if he'd have made it out of camp.

- gravyface

Wow are you actually upset that the kid is not playing like Bobby Orr? He's highly touted and a pleasant surprise but wow, that's an uncalled for comparison or expectation.

Reilly has a much better shot at being an end to end PMD, as long as the media and everyone else stops comparing him to Coffey. His name is Morgan Reilly and his game is Morgan Reilly's just as it has been his whole life.

Finishing in the bottom half of the Eastern seeds and getting to play the winner of the Southeast would be like winning the playoff lottery.

The team that finishes 6th will likely have more points than 3rd.
