Don't worry, he didn't get hurt, he was just benched.

Yeah, it does, because I don't want to have to watch him in a leafs uniform long term.

Yes, I think it would be most wise to move our best winger and nearly a quarter of our offense because he doesn't play one team of 30 well.

We need better goalies to practice the shootout on
- Arctic_AARDVARK

It's a game of it's own and the goalies need to practice it, along with the players.

I think this just amplifies the fact that the Leafs aren't contenders, not even close really. Bubble team that could just as easily finish anywhere between 6th and 12th.

Having said that, so can half the conference (or league for that matter): if Philly or NYR can poop the bed, so can anyone.

Parity baby.

The schedule is now starting to swing into our favour. No Boston or no Pittsburgh games left. Sure, we get Krusty and the red klowns and we get the Smurfs twice each. If we win tomorrow, we can start looking forward towards 40 points. The teams behind us will eliminate each other. Five games with at least a point, no complaints. Seems strange that this has happened, now that Gardiner is back on the team.

i have a feeling our best offensive players are nothing more than strong complimentary players. they're never going to be feature players on a championship team.

only one with some game changing potential would be kadri, and we're looking at a really small window to make that assessment.

the leafs lack a sundin, the type of player that you really look for to make a game changing play under pressure in big situations.

- joel878

It's a win by committee team, but Toronto's been that kind of a team for as long as I can remember, even in the Sundin days, with exception to maybe the few years we were "stacked" contenders with Sundin, Roberts, Mogilny. Sundin was always the best player on the ice, but I recall many years of balanced scoring across all three lines.

The thing the Leafs have is depth. They have 3 good offensive lines when everyone is going. I am glad Carlyle sat JVR tonight and gave Kessel less ice time in the 3rd period. I predict they will be going hard against the Panthers tomorrow.

Mirtle says a 7-8 finish should get us into the playoffs. So...6-9 to finish the season?

would it kill them to practice it at the beginning of every practice? Reimer should be watching tape of himself sucking in shootouts.

Dude Reimer is the only reason we were in the game... Goalies are only as good as their defenders... and support.. Reimer & Scrivens will become really competent when they have better players in front of them.. Franson got blown away for the first.. Pheneuf deflected the second one over Reimer... The goalies are good.. the team still needs strengthening...

I'd do it in a second, not because I don't' like Phaneuf but because I really like B. Schenn.

Krusty and the Klowns won in a shootout. Jersey gets a loser point, but have one less game to catch us, in the standings.

now that Gardiner is back on the team.

What you get with Gardiner is the pass he made on Lupul's goal. Glass half full.

Getting beat by Hamilton behind the net. Glass half empty.

I bet, Seguin and Bergeron's moves were very similar to Otts.

i agree.. but we all know how well the win by committee deal has worked..

i think even in that era, the leafs had impact players who could deliver in big pressure situations. you knew something game changing was going to happen when sundin hit the ice, even roberts, and tucker to a degree. mogilny was a bit flakey like kessel..

i lack that feeling that the game is going to be either tied or over any second when JVR and kessel hit the ice, even lupul.

I know that was a jab at somebody on here, but Gardiner really hasn't been that good. A few nice breakout plays, but he's not exactly lugging it up the ice like Bobby Orr every shift.

Looks scared/hesitant in his own end more often that not.

Oh well, tons of pressure, idiot agent didn't help anything either; stirred up a poop storm for really no reason at all.

Sophomore slump, and would probably be a different story if he'd have made it out of camp.

One week ago, this would have been laughable.

Lupul is playing very well, but this is textbook Leafs fan knee-jerk. If there's one thing this fan base does well, it's bipolar disorder.

JVR is like a chick who pulls out your Richard, gives it a nice rub, starts to put it in her mouth, then sacks you and steals your wallet.

It feels great for awhile, but then she's gone and your nuts hurt and you're left alone to finish.
