Don't foget Blacker almost made the team out of the draft. He was the last cut. They kept him down in order to make sure this was done right. If Jesse makes things work in TOR, then it'll be a credit to that rare patience of T.O. management.
While the coaching staff talks about how impressed they were with Reilly, the fact is that this guy still has a lot to learn. It doesn't mean he can't make the team earlier than expected, it's just that we have enough guys in the system that we can afford to be patient. He will benefit from another WJC, as well as an AHL playoff run(I have big hopes, I think he'll love a challenge).
I agree that Percy is ready to make the step up in the AHL. He has so many good tools including hockey sense. I don't think the learning curve from C-AHL is that steep. He'll be a steadying influence back there. - AngryWhiteMale
Funny how long the club has come from rushing guys like Schenn in just a few years ago because there was no one else.

Is there an asking price floating around out there for Thorton? Marleau?Boyle? - Jimmy_wiener
I was thinking the same things about Thornton. Good Canadian boy.

Marleau I just don't know about. There are times when he looks like a legit sniper, then he dissapears, or simply flakes out.

Like I said, there's simply no reason to rush. In a city like TOR that's even more important.
4 years from now we could have something along the lines of:
Gardiner Dion
Percy Reilly
Blacker Finn
Holzer
We will be set there for a long time |

Grabovski also got that money because 2 weeks prior Edmonton gave Hemsky 5 per. - aminnes

Id like to have Thorton, but Man thats steep.
Your description of Marleau sounds alot like a player we already have.......Put them on the same line and maybe one steps up, while the other flakes out, and then switch.... |

We could then move Bozak for assets(re-coup draft picks?) saving the cap space needed. |

Not really that steep. If we end up in the playoffs, then the 1st rounder is in the back half. We dump salary and clear a roster space in Grabs.
Plus we can use Bozak as a trade-able asset to recoup a 2nd rounder off some shmuck out there. |

I'm thinking more for this year, I don't know if I'de want him long term, but for this and next it would work nice. SLide Bozak dwon to the 3rd line. Thornton Kadri Bozak, nice. |

Yeah, I can see where youre coming from. Im just kinda hung up on the fact that we can make the playoffs and still have a shot at Max Domi with our 1st rounder. |

I can't think of any good comparable, all of them are UFA's 2014 and all make around 7 M, T and M are 33 B is 36. A contender is going to want them as well because of their age. Probably will each go for player, pick, prospect deals with each getting a first. But I wouldn't be surprised to see Boyle and Thornton go to Boston for Dougie, a first, and a player.

I've got Colborne penciled in for 3rd line centre duties next year so Bozak should really go if we can use Grabs to land an established no. 1 |

Just wondering why you would throw Ashton's name into this goulash.
Does that really tip the scales?
You think the Sharks care if he gets hit by a bus tomorrow? |

I agree with those points, the leafs have quietly developed Blacker properly. Rielly isn't strong enough defensively yet to make the N in my opinion but that comes with time. Burke did a great job stocking us with defensive prospects. |

Honestly, I really like Colbourne. Ya, that's a valid point, see how he goes and maybe he can step into one of the top 2 roles after THonrton's contract ends. Getting Joe actually makes a lot of sense, it's really a grabs for joe this year, and going into the dance with that would be pretty sick. |

There are some genuinely caring people on the Sharks who would like say, "Geeze, really? That sucks." if they got that news.
So yeah, the Sharks care and they don't appreciate you making them out to be unfeeling basturds.

ask yourself this
if san jose is shedding salary why do they take both grabo and liles?
just doesnt make sense
san jose will be looking for high tier youth if they start moving marleau or thorton
that means the gardiners, the kadris, the frattins.. those are the guys wilson will be looking for
