Intellectual Honesty man, exactly what the Flames talk about.....sure they could make the playoffs, but they are being honest with themselves, do they have a legitimate shot at the cup? No.

What do they get for Jagr who's been the guy stirring the drink in Dallas this year?

Can anyone explain to me WTF Dallas are doing. I dont understand, I thought Nieuy was a very very intelligent educated hockey smart man. Why would he trade pieces when his team is currently in a playoff position? Read on TSN.com how Lou Erickson may be on the block. WTF are they doing????

Love how Iginla narrows his team list to the 4 best teams in the NHL.

Anything for a Cup

Who knows man....despite what I said...they can't trade EVERYONE. Morrow was stuggling, so they moved him. If they made more than 1 more deal I would feel bad for their fans.

well just the fact that there is a list makes the whole thing seem contrived and forced.

Over pay? We will see. There is as much pressure on Flames management to obtain some asset back for Mr. Iginla. Botching this like they did the Orielly thing would not be good.

As such, I expect a middle prospect or two, a conditional draft pick or two based upon Iggy winning cup or re signing with new team.

If I'm on the other end of the phone with Iggy's agent and Feaster, that'd be my condition...

Respectfully disagree, the pressure is on a team like Boston who'll want to add that precious piece especially with Pittsburgh who just got better.

Chiarelli paid a 1st round pick and a former first round pick (Colborne) for Kaberle.

Edit: A conditional pick too i think

The guy deserves a cup more than anyone in the NHL... he is all class, and quite frankly his top 5 teams SHOULD be the best 5 teams. He deserves a cup.
Why would he go to a place like say Nashville or Ottawa, a mediocre team as a rental if you arent going to win a cup?

what do you mean he deserves a Cup? Should he not have to work for a Cup? it reminds me of Brett Favre allowing Strahan to sack him for the record.

I guess you guys dont need him if thats all the Hawks want to offer. A bad deal from Boston or LA is better than that. Would be a short telephone convo. I think Tervanian & a 1st would be a good foundation for a conversation & the roster player can be haggled, maybe Frolik to get rid of some $$$ for you guys. He probably fit on our... err, one of our 3 2nd lines.

Why should I stop commenting? I think I'm bringing up a pretty rational point that Iginla insitsting he is only traded to one of the best teams makes his Cup aspirations seem phony to me

Do you watch hockey (well as a Leafs fan... just saying)? there are few pro athletes that "deserve" a championship and not only does Iggy deserve it, he's earned it. He's put up H of F stats on brutal Flames team for pretty much his whole career...

I agree....the Pens didn't really give up much...and INCREASED the amount of draft picks they have in their organization in the Morrow deal. I don't see how it takes them out of it. Does it make it less likely? Perhaps...but who knows, maybe they swing for the fences on this one. Or maybe they can agree to an extension with IGGY for 3 years 12 million. In any case, they are still in on him IMO.
- The-O-G

Getting Iginla would almost certainly require a deal that is similar to the Hossa...uh...Dupuis trade...a few years ago.

The most likely candidate -- IMO -- to be traded by the Pens is Tyler Kennedy. A $2M RFA who will likely resign for not a whole lot more than that. He is an NHL roster player who is top 9 and might be top 6 on some teams. Before this year he had 78 points in his last 140 games...33G 46A...he is only 26.

Now, Atlanta basically took whatever it could get in the Hossa deal...and as we know, Shero looks like a genius all these years later (got a little lucky for sure) in that Dupuis has arguably meant more to the Pens than Armstrong, Christensen and Esposito have meant to their respective clubs (combined!).

In any case...I think Shero sees this as the best chance to win another cup...and wouldn't be surprised to see him swing for the fences.

I think who ever he winds up getting traded to, is a destination he probably would pick to sign with as a UFA. Pretty simple. He's done everything you can possibly achieve in his career except a Cup. So how is picking the top 4 contenders phony? Your points are not being thought out. He's not pulling a Sundin here. I do wish he opened it up by 2-3 more teams. I'm shocked Vanc arent on that list or the Rangers seeing he's pretty tight with both Nash & Richards. In fact he tried to talk Richards to coming here when he was a UFA.
