at the same time though they'd have to look at consistency to go along with those deals
meh.....i think it just came down to the fact they dont have anyone available thats even close to being a replacement nor is there anyone going to be available in free agents
hope playing next to a very consistent Eric Staal will keep him from slacking |

Corey Perry was up in Timmins during the lockout, so the lockout was hard on the players, now he's back in Anaheim with a big deal |

In case you guys haven't heard. Hemsky and Smid are both available for the low cost of a quality prospect and a 1st, each. |

Too much.
This is the time to sell players and bank picks. Even for the Habs if they can.
You do the opposite at the draft when picks value are at their peak. |

This trade should be on the tops of minds in and around Buffalo, as the Sabres have not one, but two, rental defenseman in their midst right now.
Veterans Robyn Regehr and Jordan Leopold will become UFA in July. Regehr's in the final days of his $4,020,000 contract, while Leopold is earning $3 million in this, his final season of his deal.
Darcy Regier now must seriously consider trading both vets in exchange for four second round picks - golfingsince

Pretty sure we would have said the same thing about Murray.

I hope Bergevin sells a couple of pieces if they can fetch more than their actual value. I'm thinking of Moen... or even Markov. Assets management. |

I could see Moen, but Markov isn't going anywhere. Maybe next year though. |

Depends on the return. If Quincey fetched a 1st last year, I could see Markov being traded for a 1nd, a 2st and a good prospect.
...I'm not saying that's his actual value but you get the point. |

Sure, if Murray is worth 2x 2nd, Markov would fetch a nice package.
But with the Habs where they are in the standings, no way MB will move a big piece like Markov for picks.
Next year though, he'll be a UFA. If they don't intend to re-sign him, we could see a trade. But I think they'll extend him. |

I think he should be in a cautiously buyer mode, but I hope he stays open if a team is ready to overpay massively. Gainey made the mistake of not trading Souray. I know the situation isn't the same because Souray was to become a UFA, but we'll see.
This team is not as good as it appears in the standings. He should still have long-term vision. |

On that note, I'm still disgusted over that classless stunt the Sens did. |
