If I am San Jose, I would be looking to trade pieces to get assets. I think they need a bit of a rebuild, and to get away from the whole Marleau-Thornton era. I've thought that way for a while now. Do that by trading veterans such as Murray and Boyle.

I personally wouldn't say Murray has been their worst d-man in the playoff runs especially. I'd agree he has lost a step this season but to say there is no way he could provide what OD did here, as a 6th d-man is interesting.

I'll use his time in Pittsburgh to make that call before calling Shero a retard.

Who has called Shero a retard? Shero is bringing in Murray for defensive depth. Which you need for the playoffs. If they want a better player, it would cost them more then a 2nd and a 3rd. And teams would be asking for Depres in return. Big difference from obtaining a veteran defenseman on expiring contract. Versus bringing in a player to be a full time top 6 defenseman.

I've always thought he was solid, and I like the physical game he brings. I haven't seen enough of him this season to update my opinion, but that's about to change and I 'll be curious how he performs with the Pens.

And I wouldn't have a problem with the Flyers signing him this off-season for $1.5 for a year or 2. Basically, he'd be taking up the cash freed up by Matt Walker coming off the books.

The Flyers are going to need that cash for some real improvements. They're looking at 3M in Cap space right now. I wouldn't be real excited to use up half of that for a player in serious decline.

that would be a bad deal for the flyers for cap reasons. yes, the flyers could really use that type of plyr on giroux's wing, but the D has to be the priority if couts is getting moved out.

Has there been any word on exactly how Briere got his concussion in practice? Like who hit him?

My money is on B. Schenn or Simmonds just to get him off their line.
