My bad.... Paddock not Murray

But, you are correct. They dump and chase at dumb times and really do a lot of dumb things with the puck

An intelligent post and you have to pick that to comment on, Mr Cranky Pants?

I'd wait to see how he did in the playoffs first before giving him a long deal.

I'd be okay with moving any of them as long as a replacement is obtained in the return. But not for draft picks, in my opinion.
- MJL

Again, why move them even if they are repplaced. what is your objective?

Who ever heard of a team that obviously wont win jack poop and needs a little more than some small pieces trading a d-man to get assets?

I'll use Murray's time in Pittsburgh as a judgement whether he could provide what OD did here as a 6th d-man.

- flyer_nutter

It's not a common practice for teams in the playoff hunt to trade veteran defenseman for draft picks. You made your comments on bringing in Murray long before he was traded for the Pens. Are you now saying you're not sure if he can bring what O'Donnell did?

Murray can't bring what Sean O'Donnell could in his Season here. If he could, the Sharks wouldn't have traded him. It adds depth for the Pens. Always need that for a play off run for the defense. Huge difference between obtaining a player for a playoff run to provide depth. And obtaining a player to be an every game player for a full Season. Murray would not have been a good choice for the Flyers going forward.

I guess lava is the right coach for the flyers. Being that flyers haven't fired him?

The objective would be to improve the team. If you can trade one of them for a defenseman that you feel is a better fit. Or a younger NHL ready defenseman that you think will be an upgrade in the future.

Awesome post Chris.

And what else hurts all of that, is the Flyers lack of ability to create turnovers with neutral zone pressure, that lead to odd man rushes, and transition breaks.

Thanks.

Nobody said anything about him in relation to Ovechkin. I heard a lot of interest here, but only for a short term deal for him.

So, either a 30 year-old or a 34 year-old for Coburn, who is 28 and more mobile than both.

Talk about grass being greener on the other side...

San Jose is one point out of the playoffs in the West. Usually you don't see teams in that position trade away veterans for picks.

One of the better Sharks blogs( www.fearthefin.com ) is ecstatic at the trade. They're amazed at the return he got and called Murray the team's worst defensemen that last two seasons.

I'd definately like to see the kid up here next season. Much like what Coots did on the 4th line his first year with the big club, getting PK minutes also.

Cousins should get a look as well. I'd be more than fine going with a McGinn-Laughton-Rinaldo 4th line next season.

Kyle Flanagan, a recent Flyers signee out of St. Lawrence College, is a finalist for the Hobey Baker Award given to the top hockey player in the NCAA.

Flanagan currently ranks fifth in the fan voting portion of the award, which will ultimately be selected by a panel of selected members from the print media, electronic media, NHL scouts, college hockey coaches and officials.

Dreger on TSN radio: Briere to Montreal for a draft pick could happen if Briere is healthy & willing to waive his NTC. #Flyers #Canadiens

GET WELL SOON DANNY

- Jsaquella

Is this legitimate? What type of pick are they talking here? If they are willing to move him for a pick, then the writing is on the wall for Danny at the end of the season if he doesn't waive. In big, bold, letters. My thoughts, anyway.

If I am San Jose, I would be looking to trade pieces to get assets. I think they need a bit of a rebuild, and to get away from the whole Marleau-Thornton era. I've thought that way for a while now. Do that by trading veterans such as Murray and Boyle.

I personally wouldn't say Murray has been their worst d-man in the playoff runs especially. I'd agree he has lost a step this season but to say there is no way he could provide what OD did here, as a 6th d-man is interesting.

I'll use his time in Pittsburgh to make that call before calling Shero a retard.

Briere's injury is kind of infuriating. I know its not his fault, but its adding fuel to the fire. He's had a bad regular season, likely a buy out candidate. We were hoping we could trade him for some kind of pick.. and ironically he gets injured and basically becomes untradeable. I could never say a player is faking an injury or anything, but it really happened at a convenient time. He sucks during the regular season, therefor not contributing much to our playoff hunt, and now hurts our chances of improving our team for next year because we can't trade him.

Sorry for the rant. I needed to vent.

But it's someone reporting what Dreger said. I've seen some Philly media completely misrepresent quotes or hearsay. I don't know much about Cordell
