You're refusing to think outside the box. Why is it that the first candidate on people's tongues are people that have played here before: Dudley, LaFontaine, Housley, Cunneyworth? How come somebody who doesn't have any ties to the Buffalo Sabres is rarely ever mentioned? We're so obsessed around here with "keeping our own" that we're blinded from considering what it really takes to win championships in this town. This organization has been around for 40+ years and has never won a cup. And yet most people refuse to believe that recycling the same people over and over again has anything to do with the lack of success. The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over again and expecting a different result. That's exactly what is going on here.

I would say because most people don't think about other teams, players and management, IMO.

When would the Ryan Miller to Tampa threads begin? Tampa would bounce quickly with the addition of Ruff and Miller!

Yeah. He has 1 more point on the season than Ott, though he's played in 6 less games as well. However, I think that we still win that trade based on the fact that Ott brings a lot more to the table in other ways.

Dont have a problem with moving Miller in the off season provided we have a plan b in place.

I know he will be forever compared to Ott because they were traded for one another, but I prefer to look at Hodgson vs. Roy as a comparison. Cody essentially took Roy's place in the lineup. Not only has Hodgson more than replaced Roy's production, he also has more upside than Roy ever did.

Nobody here has really said Ruff is a bad coach. They just simply thought this team needed a change. It happens. Coaches get fired all over the league all the time. It happens in every major sport. Just because a guy gets let go from a team doesn't mean he's a bad coach. He's just not the right fit for the current team.

Laviolette won a Cup and then got fired a few years later. He landed on his feet in Philly and took them to Stanley Cup finals that year. He may be on his way out there now as well though. Every coach has a "life cycle." Some just tend to be shorter than others.

Absolutely. In all honesty, when I look at the Hodgson trade, I actually do more of a comparison between Kassian and Foligno. Moving Kassian opened up the door for Foligno. Foligno has 13 points this year. Kassian has 8. So I like the way that's worked out as well.

People constantly call Ruff a terrible coach on here. He ruins every young player he coaches. Duh

Exactly! That trade looks better every week. You can even go further with it. Gragnani is playing with Carolina's AHL team, while Sulzer was a serviceable D-man for us before his injury.

Marcus takes a regular shift, while Kassian has been on the 4th line and scratched recently. I also believe Kassian's 5 goals came in the first 2 weeks of the season, when Canucks fans were trolling us over the trade. Funny how we don't really here from them anymore.

Sometimes a coach needs to be let go to realize that some of their methods are not working and it's time to retool. He hasn't had the best track record with young talent recently. Hopefully he can take the time he's had this season since he was let go to take a look at a few things and has gotten some new ideas on how to handle the young guys. If he can't manage that, then he's not going to last on another team since the league is so much more focused around the young talent these days.

Yeah. Funny how we haven't heard anything about Sulzer's injury though since right after it happened. Paul Hamilton said it looked like it was going to be long term, but I don't think we've actually heard anything from the team about it.

My personal opinion was this team needed a change.Should of been handled before or after the season with more class and dignity but its over with now.

Yea he sure ruined that Ennis kid. People think because Grigorenko didn't come in and score 50 goals Lindy ruined him. Thats BS. He dosn't get top line minutes just because his name is Grigorenko. Rolston obviously thinks the same.
