have you watched him play?

serious question because he is healthy again this season and all over the ice

the problem with tampa is they over paid a few of the wingers have third liners playing with him on the second line

I am waiting for the day they put him or stamkos on the wing and play their 3 best players on the same line

- homiedclown

I have not but I know he's not playing at a $7.7 million dollar level nor will he be until my son is 9 years old. My son is 20 months old today.

he is still a top ten all around center
plays great d
hits
goes in the corner and gets the puck

give him vanek and those two get 100 points next season on the bolts second line

Thought this was pretty funny:

Homer Stockwell‏@HomerStock2h
@BNHarrington Well... the good news is if Ruff is hired in Tampa, then the Sabres just found a trade partner for Hecht.

Crosby. Malkin. Eric Staal. Kopitar. Giroux. Stamkos. Toews. Datsyuk. Tavares. Spezza. Backes. Sedin.

Not sure Lecavalier is top 10. I'm not disagreeing with you on his quality of play. What I originally wrote is they can't move him because of his cap hit. $54 mill cap next year and he's nearly $8 mill of that. I think if they could remove that cap hit for the next 7 years, they'd do it immediately.

you just said you don't watch him

it's based on all around play not stats

he is not going to put up the numbers as long as he is center on second line and stamkos is on first line

I am very curious to see how the new coach will handle those two

Wrong, Patty LaFontaine is a class act. Could run a organization to a cup!
- Irish 14

The only way this team ever wins a cup is by thinking outside the box. They need people with zero ties to this organization to run things. They need people with no existing loyalties, no ins to the "good old boys" club that's essentially ruining this franchise. Stop with the obsession of bringing in "Buffalo guys" to run things. The only thing that's definite about "Buffalo guys" right now is that they don't know how to win.

I checked his Wikipedia page and did a search for the word "Buffalo". It wasn't found. He makes my list of candidates.

Has he won a cup in his career as a player or a coach? Another Buffalo guy who didn't win.

Brian Burke for GM as long as he promises not to bring in Ron Wilson to coach.

Sorry, disagree. Patty is a professional in every matter of the word! He will surround the organization with people that know how to win.

He has zero experience at managing at the professional level at all let alone the NHL level. Bringing him in at this point sets the franchise back. And that's before you even factor in the disaster that is bringing in someone who is well regarded here.

If LaFontaine is brought in it means that Darcy has gone. That's a plus.

Anyone catch HNIC afterhours last night? They talked about the Kaleta-Miller flap for more than a few minutes. PJ Stock actually stuck up for Kaleta and Weekes said Miller needs to stop talking and worry about his game. That tool Glen Healy called out Bucky Gleason by name and sh*t-talked Kaleta, predictably so, I might add. I like it that Kaleta has even gotten into the heads of guys like Milbury and Healy, who can barely mask their ties to the Bruins and Leafs while speaking during national broadcasts.

Also, Bucky Gleason had some pretty good ideas about Sabres management in his column this morning:

The after hours club might be the worst bunch of hacks around. You could pull 4 guys from this thread and have a better conversation than those idiots.

Look, I'm not saying that everyone that doesn't have ties to Buffalo would be a good fit. What I am saying is that of all the quality candidates out there, there are plenty of them who don't have previous ties to the Buffalo Sabres, and have track records of winning either by doing it before (Burke) or as an understudy (Nill). They need to go after those guys. As Buffalo fans, we always seem to want guys we can "identify with". The problem is none of those guys have ever won anything. If you identify with mediocrity, you'll always get mediocrity.

He played hockey in the NHL for 15-16 years at a very high level. He is connected, knows the in's and outs of the league. I can go on, but I disagree with your assumption. But that's ok bufffan19, we can agree to disagree.
