Ok....once again....

Everyone talking about what they think the team needs and saying "go get X, or why havent the Oilers traded for this guy?"

Really? You think its just that easy that a guy the Oilers want they make a call and its done? And what do you think they would have to give up? I could have puked listening to PJ Stock last night. The guy is clueless. Turn your friggin collar down tool! If the Oil trade for a big peice, it will cost a big peice. And that would just open one hole to close another. Like it or not, the Oil are going to have to take what they can get for the spare peices, try to pick up something in UFA and the draft. Trades for the sake of trades do no good. Only if its an upgrade.

I'm getting tired of all the fair weather fans thinking they know better than everyone in the Oilers management. Get a grip.

The one guy I think would do wonders for you guys is Clarkson. Agree?

Yeah you guys were on a lucky run...

Perhaps, perhaps unlucky since the Oil scored on themselves a couple times resulting in 2 less points, and more importantly 2 points for teams they are chasing, depends on how ya wanna look at it. The games I watched the last 5 were not luck (aside from the chicago game) but they actually played well enough to beat the teams they played, last night they were just complete poop, but they weren't gonna win every game the rest of the way.

I don't think you are wrong on the direction. Look the playoffs would be a wonderful that would be ahead of schedule. The Caps, Hawks and Penguins all took between 4-5 years before they made the playoffs with the "tank" rebuild.

It's like dealing with a severely infected wound. The Hall's, Eberle's, RNH's, Yakupov's and Shultz's are the healthy/new skin that you want to keep. The Horcoffs, Smyth's, Whitney's and Kahbibulin's are the infected gangrene skin that you want to slough off. Unfortunately that takes time, pain and antibiotics. The management are the guys dealing with the time, the fans are the ones in pain, and hopefully once the debridement is finished they start with the antibiotics (Lander, Hartikainen, hopefully some decent free agents) and then the healing can begin.

Its one thing to rebuild, its another to score first over all talents. The Pens and Hawks made the players quickly after getting their first overalls/top 3's and won a cup before the Oilers will have made the playoffs. Did it take the Pens/Hawks 4-5 years to make the players AFTER they got Toews/Kane, Crosby/Malking? Not even close.

I keep saying we should target a LW'er with size and hitting ability so I will toss out some names.
I would hope the Oilers to look to push for one of two players at the draft. Now would be great but???
Kane - Wpg
Lucic - Bos.

Both fill the need for physical presence and offensive skills and they play the LEFT SIDE!

I would think Kane is more attainable of the two seeing that the Jets also need help on the Right side. I would start with MPS and Hemsky and go from there. I think mgmt in Wpg would consider this, not to sure if they buy into the Kane persona.

With Lucic it is tougher, but seeing that they have injury issues up the middle, adding some wingers could help move Seguin over to centre. So;MPS, Hemsky, Jones to start with and go from there.

I know most will start to crap on this but MPS is turning a corner and a change of location will help this. Good young talent but we already have much the same here already. Hemsky if you like him or not brings offensive creativity. A change here too might do him well. Again, much the same skill set as some of the ones the Oilers look to keep.

Maybe not with the trolls, especially D-bags like systemtool or most of the Casucks posters, but you whipper, you understand logic.

Pens and Hawks went through a very long period of total irrelevance.

Pens also picked top 5, 5 years in a row.

No doubt, but those long years didnt do anything for them until they picked their lottery picks. Point is, it was a very quick turn around for them to get their 1st overalls and then make the playoffs and not long after win a cup.

I know it sucks to hear, but it has to be heard because it's the truth.

He looks like he would. But he's a pending UFA. I wouldnt give up anything for him in a TDD deal with the possibility he could walk. The Oil dont have assets they can just throw away on a chance he might stay. Make him an offer this summer and see where it goes.

By the time the oilers draft picks are all good enough to lead this team, the oilers will have to start trading them for prospects because they won't be able to afford all of them under the salary cap. And who takes 7 or 8 years to rebuild??

It's going to take more than that to pry Lucic out of Boston. How about MPS & Klefbom for starters & then we'll go from there.

No it doesn't suck to hear. Has nothing to do with the Oilers.

The truth?

You wouldnt know the truth if it took its Richard out and slapped you across the face!

Pttsburgh had their forst lotto pick in 2002. they then had 4 more up until 06. 5 years in a row starting in 02. They won the cup 09. 7 years later.

The Oilers had their first lotto pick in 2010. Taylor Hall. So by the same timeing they should win the cup in 2017???

Thats the truth tool.

Trolls can't resist an Oilers loss to tell us a few more 1st overall and another decade of rebuilding will turn things around.

The truth is that you are a blathering imbecile, the Hawks had 2 full seasons after getting Toews, the Pens had 5 years of top five picks so your point is absolutely retarded as the Oil have only played 2 full seasons after their fist, #1 pick without making the playoffs. You have a point after they go more than 3 or 4 seasons without making the playoffs and even then unless they are finishing in the bottom 5 like Pitt did for 5 years and Chicago did for 3 straight, they aren't any further off in terms of turn around than them right now.
