and that's fine. I don't think they will either but the organization still has a job to do.
- JoeRussomanno

Yup. The organization would be wise to move some players at the deadline.

got it makes sense
you would think with the threat of a buyout players would try harder

- 2Real

It's not a matter of trying harder with bryz, he just SUCKS! Sorry, I couldn't resist.

I usually don't when people have to resort to passive aggressive comments like 12 year old girls but I thought higher of you, perhaps i was wrong.
- JoeRussomanno

Passive aggressive is the way of Hockeybuzz.

I agree about the 12 year old girl thing.

Options always exist. I am not a GM so I cannot give all of the names.

Realistic options off the top of my head include Backstrom, Hiller or Bishop.

- flyer_nutter

There are always options. Can't be afraid to make a move if it's going to benefit the club in the long run.

My thing comes from one simply fact. Bryzgalov is paid to be a CONSISTENT elite goaltender in the league.

He has let in far too many weak or saveable goals over his time here. Along with not making enough big saves consistently. He has hot stretches where he shows what he is capable of, but the inconsistency mixed in with his cap hit is the killer to me.

- flyer_nutter

I just don't have a problem with his play this year. If you want to make the argument that he's overpaid. Ok. But most ufas get overpaid. In the circumstance of the flyers and their situation. Yea he got overpaid. He is still a solid #1 goalie in this league regardless of his cap hit

glad you can make claims based solely on what suits your purpose while overlooking the mountain of evidence which contradicts it.
- JoeRussomanno

Evidence?what evidence? Neither of us has provided any evidence only opinion. Hb opinion. It's all good. If I was sitting next to you at a gamE we'd both be cheering the same for the same team

just cause a few people disagree with you doesn't mean you have to make a full blanket statement. I personally find myself agreeing with you in particular from time to time and sometimes I don't. That's fine no two people will agree on every single thing. I only get mad when you and guys like you bring up how "someone will look to argue this" which we both know is a shot at a particular poster or blanketing all of us into a category because something you said isn't popular on the board. Finally one that sticks in my crawl and this isn't something you particularly do, is when someone rants and raves incessantly about something while convienantly overlooking all the information which contradicts them and is presented to them by other posters but dismissed with the greatest of ease.

It's a discussion board, if you don't want people to discuss with you don't write on the board. In the meantime try to have some level of respect for those that show it or haven't warranted a lack of. Sorry for the rant but I find myself unnerved today and had to get that off my chest.

I like Backstrom, but he's getting 500k less than Bryz right now. He is 35, so he might command less as an UFA; however, his numbers are still consistenly strong and in the open market he could command a similar number. You really wouldn't be saving much there imho.

Hiller is making 2mil less, but you'd have to trade for him and it probably won't be cheap. So you'd have to buyout Bryz and then give up key assets in a trade to acquire him. Furthermore, you would have to resign him in a year and he would probably be up for a raise assuming his play remains at/above its current level.

Bishop has played 10 games in the NHL and would be a dice roll. Of course you would be saving a tremendous amount of money, but you're kind of back at square one.

Bryz has been used very heavily this year and there's no question fatigue has played a factor. Should he have voiced it to the media, probably not; however, that doesn't really invalidate the statement. Elite goaltender or not, in a condensed season like that it is tough. Not to mention the horrendous play in front of him from a team defense perspective. Just my thoughts...

No problem at all. I'm always up for talking hockey. People have different opinions and that makes it fun.

Keep up the good work!

Its alright, I sent ya a PM as well.

It kind of explains why I bring that up. Another way to put it is everyone posts stupid poop. If it was just facts this place would be boring as hell. To continously call out ideas in these passive aggressive ways that basically just call people stupid (like what is being done to SMS currently), is just the wrong way to approach things imo.

You could laugh along with the guy or simply ignore the posts. Indirectly calling people stupid will get get a reaction, like we see day after day. Also being able to let go that someone else has a different point of view, is something that is lacking.

Players with nmc get moved all the time. Point? If a team doesn't want you chances are extremely high your going to be moved.

Count me among those whose opinion is that Briere is claiming injury to save face from being scratched.

Remember that the CBA was amended so that Gomez and Redden were spared the indignity of being scratched for an entire year.

Solid points. However, you have to explore the options in case they decide to move on. He has a lot more money and years left.

I don't mind them exploring the options, I just don't see a lot of appealing options in front of them.
