We've got the most OT/SO losses in the league this year. So far, we're 3-7 in extra time.

In those ten games, we've carried leads into the third period in 3 of them, been tied midway through the 3rd in 8 of 10. We've "forced" OT in 5 and "allowed" OT in 5. So far we've let up nine 3rd period goals when protecting a lead, and six 3rd period goals when tied.

That's six ties surrendered in the third, and nine goals that have chipped away at leads. We've scored five 3rd period tying goals this season (but 4 of them were in the first 10 games)

Why can't we close out games?

thats a tough one. his 2 more years after this is scary with the way hes been playing.
and theyd prob want more. id maybe sweeten the pot with a pick or a prospect if need be.

hes a big dude and could help a ton if he goes back to drivin the net.

sort of a sideways move short term probably. could be a good move if he reverts back to 2010 stafford.

I'm not really into it...using Hemsky to fine-tune the top 9 is okay, but I don't think Stafford 'solves' anything, and a dman in return for Hemmer sets us up far better.

SJ currently trailing Minny 1-0 after 2. We're at the "cheering for teams to lose" portion of the season unfortunately. Also, hope for Nashville and Columbus to each forfeit and be docked 6 points.

If Stafford could be had for a pick or prospect, it still leaves Hemsky/pick/prospect/dman for a better dman. This actually might be a decent move as it doesn't affect the top 9 depth like moving a forward for d would.

Stafford has the same value as whitney.. We could get him for a 3rd... or whitney...

I'll put it to you this way, Oilers fans: 90% of us Sabre fans would drive Stafford to Edmonton.

He flat out sucks. No heart. He's Penner, if you missed him.

Who knows, maybe a fresh start on a team full of enthusiastic kids would get him fired up. All he would really need to do is dig a few pucks, not turn it over, and create space for his linemates. Maybe he isn't what we need, but honestly I don't think Hemsky is a fit here anymore either. I love Hemsky and would love to see him succeed here, but I just don't see it.

Penner has 3 inches and easily 35+ pounds more chub on him than Stafford. He is way softer, but he was a funny (frank)er during interviews so yeah kinda do miss the guy... and apparently he wins cups, so some fans (moronic idiots) would argue he is good because of that stat.

A win and were 1 point back. Can honestly say im excited for games. This is what we wanted this year, to compete for a playoff spot. The atmosphere at Rexall against san jose was playoff-esque.

So now an Edmonton win with a Nashville win puts us a point back of 3 different teams. An Edmonton win with a Columbus win keeps us 3 points out of 8th.

Also we would have games in hand against CBJ, Pho, Nsh, and even with Dal.
looking at the top 8 it will be tough to get in, but the fact that right now we can even look, and there is a chance is pretty great.
