No wonder why this organization is an embarrassment, new owner and the goal is to win the cup and they are further behind now then they were with Golisano as owner. Absolute joke this ownership and management team is, first round pick or not you don't trade Steve Ott, the Oilers have had 3 first round picks and have gotten noplace. Trade Ott but Stafford and Hecht are still here, not that they will be for sure but it's sad when you think about it. I hope we get 3 picks in the 1st round this year so we can still suck.

for the record since it's been said countless times between last night and tonight, I called Kaleta a sissy, I know Orr jumped him but it didn't even look like Kaleta TRIED to get his gloves off. I know what he means to the team and how he kills penalty's but when you play the kind of game Kaleta plays you should expect to get what you get. Kaleta isn't a heavyweight, Orr is but talking smack to the wrong people will get you in trouble. I have said negative things about Kaleta in the past however, I have given him props for his play this year, even that bulls$$t call on the Richards hit. Richards should have gotten an award for that acting job. Kaleta brings it I know but sometimes you should pick your battles and stuips crap like what Orr did will happen.

Pegula should really figure out how to run this team or get someone that does because Ted Black is nothing but Mr. P.R. and that doesn't qualify as to how to run a professional hockey team. The Fans and the City have waited long enough how much longer do we need to wait? how much longer will Darcy get the OK to keep bringing this franchise down?

We can agree to disagree on this site but what we all have in common is, most of us are from Buffalo and love the city and the teams (Bills) as do the fans not from Buffalo. The Cup deserves to be in BUFFALO N.Y. the city I LOVE.

Rant over!

"I don't think it's a case of making players available or not available; it's that you're trying to improve the club and the focus goes beyond this season," Regier said. "It's that simple, so you have to be open to anything that's going to do that."

My guess - 29 will be gone. Also would like to see what Miller can catch out on the market. Just feel he is not right, Thursday nights game vs. the Loafs - Miller never seemed comfortable to me? Look for Enroth between the pipes tonight!

Not that I think the Sabres are going to make the playoffs but the league not even giving Nash a 1 game suspension while Lupul got how many games for his? What?
And Kaleta got 5 for his?
This is just another way for the league to say F U Sabres making sure the Rangers have all hands on deck to at least give their best effort in making the playoffs.

He did receive a phone call Friday from league disciplinarian Brendan Shanahan, multiple sources confirmed, but the NHL's Department of Player Safety felt the hit fell below the threshold of supplementary discipline.

It is not immediately clear what absolved Nash from a fine or ban, but it is believed the principal point of contact may have been his saving grace. Nash left his feet to connect on the hit but nailed Kopecky in the back and shoulder first.

Because of Nash's star status and Shanahan's connection with the Rangers -- he played for New York from 2006 to 2008 -- the decision already has garnered some criticism.
Lucic rammed Nash into the boards in the Rangers' 4-3 shootout win over the Bruins on Feb. 12 -- a hit that is believed to be the reason Nash missed four games later that month.

The Rangers went 0-3-1 without Nash in the lineup during that span.

29 can be gone all day long, because I know the return will be high.

Then we can sign Ott to an extension this summer, and slap the "C" on his well deserving chest.

That's (frank)ed up. (frank) this organization if this happens

I'll be devastated if Ott is traded and (frank)ing Pominville and Stafford remain on this team. I don't know how I would be able to watch anymore

- rustbelt82

People act like Ott is (frank)ing Bobby Orr around here. I'd rather have a 1st round pic. You effectively would have traded Derek Roy for Pardy and a 1st rounder. Not too shabby.

It's going to be a low first round pick, in the 20's, because he'd most likely go to a contender. Where has Darcy Regier had any type of consistent success picking in the 20's, or even in the teen's? He's hit on a few, at best.

We're going to end up with another Marek Zagrapan, Barret Heisten, Artem Kruikov, Denis Persson or Jiri Novotny.

(Frank) the low first rounder. Stick with the proven player, and a damn good one at that.

This team needs more players like Ott, not less.

Wow ! We agree on something !

There are several reasons why I think they'll trade him (assuming they won't make the playoffs).
1. He'll bring a 1st and a player/pick (depending on where that team sits draftwise).
2. There can't be a shred of any doubt that he is NOT Captain material.
3. Really the only way they can eliminate the "Pommer is Captain but it should really go to Steve Ott" issue is to trade him.
4. His #s have really been sliding this season but will still be respectable. He's still an asset.

It's time... This team needs to rebuild and this is the draft to do it in. If Pegula does indeed have any business savvy whatsoever then the right thing to do is line up a GM to replace Regier NOW, pull the plug on at least two of Miller/Pommer/Vanek and move whomever you can to guarantee that Buffalo will draft in two of the top three spots in this draft.

I hope no one is going to be disappointed when pommer is still a Sabre after the deadline

Regier said that any moves are going to be madde with next year in mind, so the 3pm trade deadline press conference should go something like:

" The Sabres are pleased to announce that we have resigned Jochen Hecht to a long term extension. With this move we feel we have retained the services of the #1 Centermen on the free agent market for next season and beyond"

i spent an entire work lunch break looking up stats the last time this whole storm got big.

brodeur and patrick roy only 2 goalies in the history of the NHL to be one of the 3 highest paid players on their team and win the cup.

so its not even a new phenomenon.

The thing about shots on the PK is quite misleading. The Sabres PK gives up a lot of shots from the outside that Miller has a clear view of. Is there anywhere to see how many goals are given up with each person on the PK? That's the stat I would like to see.

Now for the PP, when the F@#* will they get Pomminville off the point? There has to be a better option.

The Islanders offered their entire draft for the #2 pick and were turned down by Columbus. What makes you think another GM in their right mind is going to give away a franchise cornerstone in Drouin, MacKinnon or Jones for lower 1st rounders?

Keep our first (in theory), and keep Ott.

This, all day long.

Regier would try to sell to the fanbase that we received a 1st for Ott, and then go pick some kid from the far reaches of Uzbekistan who will never even set foot on US soil.
