'Hearing anything else about trades? Any word on LA and St Louis?

Maybe they are looking at Ott, IDK.

He's been in 17 NHL fights and 13 AHL fights.....that's 30 professional fights. That's plenty for somebody you said turtles 90% of the time....thats just not true.

You forgot to mention that he is our best penalty killer.

Why does it bother you that he takes punches in the face so his team can go on the PP. That should be applauded, not admonished.

Yost actually posted corsi stats of our players on the PK. Kaleta, who gets regular PK time, is actually bottom of the list (only Hecht and I forgot who else he said, you can look it up). When hes on the PK, we are giving up the most amount of shots on net per 60 minutes.

Ott is number 1, and he said Porter is putting up impressive splits too. But you already stated that you dont like Porter because he only has 2 points.

His value is something I'm happy to debate and can see both sides.

What I hate reading, from our fans most of all, is that he is a wuss. He is the furthest thing from a wuss.

- Homer

Not this again....lol. I'm not sure I have the energy to do that all over again.... But boy those Leafer fans just wouldn't take off the Blue & White goggles when both you and I were more than ok with defending him for attributes and not defending his occasional recklessness.

Stats can tell you whatever you want them too.

You're right, I dont care much for Porter.

It should be an interesting couple weeks, more interesting if the Sabres are practically out of the playoffs by then.

they have been offered a first round pick for him, its still on the table. No I do not know what teamed offered it, but I know the Sabres "brass" is divided on if they should do it or not.
- Homer

I will officially smash everything in my house if this happens I am only sort of kidding. Why they would trade a player who brings everything this team has been lacking for the past 5 years is beyond me. Did Mr. Black and Uncle Terry not hear the cheers when Ott jumped over the boards last night during the shootout? This is possibly the most frustrating thing that you've ever shared on this site. I know there shouldn't be any untouchables on this roster, but Ott along with Hodgson are two of the only bright spots in this gong show of a season and I can't fathom them moving #9 at this point.

It's not going to be one of those teams, it'll be a playoff team, most likely in the 20's draft position, unless they own a lower team's 1st round pick.

When Kaleta is on the ice on the PK, the other team is getting the most shots on goal during their PP. You are dismissing this FACT as if it means nothing, and still want to call Kaleta our best PKer.

I mean, if you want to argue that, thats fine and dandy. But after admitting that much, dont be telling other people that they dont understand value.

Kaleta is a dirty player who gets suspended every year and takes bad penalties on a regular basis. He also rarely ever fights and 90% of the time turtles when someone try's to fight him he is a straight up puss true story.
- Brockv

thats the truth... from a sabres fan.. my boss is a fan and hate him too.... has kaleta every been the underdog in a fight?

I think their thinking is, the ones that want to do it anyway is we probably only have him for next year anyway and if we are truly trying to rebuild an extra first is a good place to start.

That being said I agree with you and hope he stays put and the re-sign him down the road.

I only count nhl fights 17 is not bad but then again he still turtles more then he tosses the mitts which is still a puss in my opinion. And no he is not our best penalty killer. He was suspended in 2009/2010 2 games for a hit from behind. 2011/2012 for a headbutt for 4 games which was far from accidental, and suspended this year for 5 games for a terrible hit from behind. 3 already in his short career. Last year he only played 20 games due to injury which seems to be his biggest problem. Either way i dont like him as a player and think he could easily be replaced with someone who can hit and score more then an average of 4 goals per year for his career.

Yeah, last night. Don't believe everything your boss tells you. Since you now have a job, you might want to start thinking for yourself.

he is 25% of the PK.....maybe he is matched up against the opponents #1 unit more.....its not all about Corsi stats.

I find great value in a player thats willing to get punched in the face so his team can get a PP...that takes guts.

On a team that has too many passengers and not nearly enough heart I'm in no hurry to call out or get rid of one of the players that gets after it most every night.

He's received just as many if not more cheap shots than he has delivered.

He gets hurt because he isnt afraid to block shots and throw his body around, you blame him for that?

If you dont like him as a player thats fine, but again, he is no wuss, total opposite actually.

He fought Lucic, I dont think I need to even go on from there.

Umm...yes, the Lucic fight comes to mind.

He's fought Campbell, Ashem, Dorsett...all in his weight class, all great fights that he did very well in.

Glad you and your boss hate him.

I want my best penalty killer playing against another teams top unit, and have him keeping the shots per 60 minutes at the lowest it can be. Im sorry but hes not our best PKer if hes playing against the other teams #1 unit and allowing the most shots. Thats a terrible argument. These stats are measured for that player only. So when hes out there with 3 other people, and they get 4 shots. Thats counted for each person. So this stat, is insignificant of who else he plays with. When he is on the PK, he is giving up the most shots per 60 minutes.

Stats are a measure of a players performance. Its kind of hard to dismiss stats. You can say, well, we interpret stats differently. Such as I believe a goalies GAA and SV% can depend on the team playing in front him to an extent. Other stats, simply cannot be denied.

The only value Kaleta has is that hes a hard worker and he sacrifices his body. Hes also among the league leaders in penalties drawn per 60.

Hes not that great of a penalty killer, he has little to no offense whatsoever, and he does not fight as much as a guy who does the poop he does should. Which is probably why hes hated so much. Yeah hes effective.

I dont think hes a player that you must have on your team.
