with a healthy roster, smid is maybe not in our top 4......so it's a hefty price to pay for a bottom pairing guy.

Sure thing. People have just been running around claiming they'd be trading Bishop and a 1st for a rental, which is incorrect.

There's enough to criticize about the proposal without pretending it's something it's not.

Yeah, trading 1sts are for teams that have a good inkling they'll make the conference finals or better. I think Ottawa is probably content to wait it out another season or so.

I think skyrocketed might be a bit of an exaggeration, but given how he's played, I'm fairly certain he's worth more than Ottawa paid for him
