Splitting hairs here, but I think they are 27th. 14th in the Eastern conference, and I do expect them to drop to 29th by the time they play Sunday. It's sad you areright, but I always say, if you miss, you've got to miss really bad.. none of this leafs coming in 9th 10th every every year.

I'm really keeping my fingers crossed for a top 3 pick. That would make enduring this season tolerable.

I think it's great. If you're going to miss the playoffs, miss it big! I'll look for the positive and think aboiut the great draft pick the Flyers will get if they stay there.
- MJL

I agree with that. Here is hoping they get a top 3 pick.

That's not how they rank them in the standings though.
- Hextall271

Semantics really. The Flyers are playing like the worst team in the sport. The Panthers went into MSG and beat the Rags last night. When is the last time the Flyers did that?

If you go by points % (pts/games played), they are 29th. It's like the 1/2 game in baseball.

Florida, Colorado and Calgary all have less points. The wierd thing is that the Flyers chances of making the playoffs increased to 8.1% this morning.

Yeah, I don'tunderstand why. Leafs and Sabres played a 3 pt game.. Maybe because the Rangers and Canes lost?

Also, unfortunately, Brodeur passed Hexy last night in career goals scored.

However, Iwould argue that Hexy is still ahead in actual goals scored.. Two of Brodeur's were with another team shooting it into it's own net. Hexy actually shot them both vs Boston and Washington.

Jacob Markstrom. Would have been a good 27th pick in 2008.

Yeah I hear you.. Means nothing.. I hope they come in 30th so they can lose the lottery and get a top 5 pick.

Of note, looking at the schedule to come, I expect them to finish 30th.

I agree with Bill. Unless someone wants to drastically overpay, trading Max Talbot is a silly move. Talbot is guy that is going to be part of the solution when things get turned around. He's not part of the problem.

Looking at the Standings this morning, the Flyers are 29th in a 30 team league.

That is embarrassing.

The Rangers missing the playoffs when Columbus have their first round pick would be great.

Yep.. I expect it now.. Drouin Mackinnon or Jones.. Imagine if Jones is on the board and Homer doesn't take him? Also, maybe we flip one of the top picks for a top young dman?

Sry guys you won't get 2 early 2nd round pick for an overpaid 3rd line forward.
- soad_live

Max Talbot is a lot of things.

Overpaid isn't one of them.

I believe the new rules state that you can only move down ONE place that you finish. So IF they finished 30th, worse spot would be #2. Someone confirm / deny that?

Talbot is not going to bring back a D man of much value. I would take two of the Habs 2nd's(one would have to be the Calgary pick) and move up to take a D man in the mid/late first.

This team could contend next year. Or the next. or the next. That's the nice thing about having a young core.

- hereticpride

I wouldn't take draft picks for Talbot on the chance that one of the extra picks could be a contributor in a few years. I'd want a current NHL roster player in the deal.
