Speaking of, do you remember this?

Someone just posted it in the Pens thread and I went back 30 years.

I had the football one. I had that for long car trips. My kids can watch a 3d movie while surfing the net

Funny, but necessary. Not that its his fault, but he's a mess in the outfield.

I didn't have that one (wish I did), but I had the football, the baseball one, and a car racing one.

They actually reissued these games awhile back and I got the football version for Christmas. I still have it and my 6 year old son found it and asked me about it. I tried to teach him how to play it, but he was completely underwhelmed and went back to playing Lego Star Wars on the Wii.

I was slightly miffed he wasn't in awe at the state of the art in hand held games from 1977.

Games back then weren't exactly designed to be hidden during class. All that was missing was the Budweiser goal light.

Teacher was probably tipped off when she was trying to figure out how you got one of those fancy computer thingy's she heard so much about already.

Tell me about it.

When I have people over to watch the Flyers or whatever else we're watching, if they see that Mattel Football hand held game near by, almost everyone of a certain age will pick it up and play for a while, if only to hear the combination of beeps for a touchdown.

I played that for hours on end as a kid. Then graduated to Intellivision. Then to Play Station, and on and on.

i agree. he didn't say anything that wasn't true. didn't blame anyone or anything like that. just stated a harsh truth

Not defending Toch or dumping opn Bryz, but I recall some of the Yotes players speaking out about how Bryz was not liked in their locker room. I can see his comments and maybe some others not playing well with some.

Yup, that was the progression for me as well....

Also: Those Mattel hand held games were also how I learned to never let your cousin tell you it's OK to put a 9-volt battery on your tongue.

The was no "Be a Pro" mode on that game.

It reminds me of the Seinfeld when Jerry gets his girlfriend drunk so he can play with her old GI Joe's and Elaine can make cupcakes in the easy bake oven.

If I had a Nintendo and Tecmo Bowl in front of me right now I would play it.

i understand that. after hearing how tocchet actually answered the question i'm not as annoyed at him, to be honest. seems possible that those phoenix troubles could be what has tocchet even making those comments, though. much ado about nothing if you ask me

I'm certain that I lost GPA points in college because of Tecmo Bowl.

And Sega Hockey.
