D'Agostini to NJ for a conditional 5th rounder. Former 20 goal scorer.
- Jsaquella

D'Agostini will be assimilated into the Devils' Borg collective.

He will make a fine drone.

If not, it's a conditional 5th rounder....so they gave up next to nothing to get him. Look at Loktionov, he's been a great addition for Devils...got him for a 5th rounder, too

I didn't realize he scored 21 goals in 2010-11. Not bad. He's sucked since.

I'm saying that people who say trade this player or that player should also provide some basis as to how those players would be replaced. In some cases, yes, it's a fair characterization. One poster suggesting dumping Coburn said that Coburn was being treated as a God by another defending his contributions.

For example, I'm suggesting that Laviolette should be fired. I have not only suggested 2 short term replacements, but identified 3 long term replacements to pursue when the season ends.

I'm calling out anyone who replies to a poster's defense of a player in extreme terms, yes. Defending Coburn, or pointing out his importance to the team is not the same as calling him an untouchable, Chara-esque player.

Asking somebody who proposes a trading a roster player for a draft pick how they intend to replace said roster player is a valid question. Part of playing armchair GM is finding solutions and being able to justify your proposals.

- Jsaquella

acknowledging his importance and still expressing a desire to trade him (in order to help restock the dearth of high end prospects in the flyers system while the team is in last place) is not the same as saying the guy is worthless or sucks. or even that any short term replacement is going to be able to provide the same level of play as coburn. it's a completely different focus

your characterization of the opinions of those in favor of trading coburn is just as dismissive as the arguments you bemoan in your original post

Bryce Salvador is the captain of the Devils right now.

Nice player, but he's not Scott Stevens.

so am I the only one that thinks the Flyers will miss the playoffs but still be good enough to finish (draft lottery withstanding) with the 10th or 11th pick?

And the owner. Not advocating this but if homer were to be fired I'd be happy wih hextall or the guy mentioned before by some posters from Detroit For he main reason of implementing an organizational plan over the long haul.

No my characterization isn't dismissive. Last night a poster in favor of trading Coburn called out another poster for defending "God" Coburn. That's the kind of thing I am talking about.

When people criticize Laviolette and the response is a sarcastic "It's all Laviolette's fault, obviously" is the kind of suff I'm talking about.

I'm not talking about the people who say that if you can get a great return fro Coburn, trading him should be an option, because I feel the same way. I'm talking about people who can't handle criticism or defense of a player or coach and immediately say that a detractor is blaming everything on one guy or saying that another guy is God-like.

Nope. At 10 or 11 they'll get a very good player. Ristolainen might be there then, Ryan Pulock almost certainly will be, as will Zadorov.

I can't see how Snyder would can Homer knowing that he, Snyder, was the driving force behind the whole Brzy scenario.

Love to get Hexy back in the organ-eye-zation, though.

This is not a shot at anyone specific, but more a general HB CoC note:

I know you can't correct anyone's grammar/spelling on here. But by the same token, it's very hard to read when someone fails to use any sort of grammatical separation between sentences or thoughts. I know it's an open forum, but since the age of about 8 or so I've always tried my best to let people know where one thought ends and the next begins (except in cases where I deliberately try to be as confusing as possible). Again, not to anyone in particular, but I've seen cases where people just post one long run-on sentence, and while I don't question their knowledge or intelligence, their unwillingness to use simple grammar-school punctuation/capitalization makes me regard their comment a bit less. Just a rant.
