I'd love to give everyone in here a great big hug just knowing that we all want Briere gone.

I don't remember really well...did they dump the season, tried to lose or whatever?

I think they just had things snowball and had injuries.

I'm pretty sure David Robinson was lost for most of the season and underwent back surgery allowing the Spurs to have the worst record in the league.

Maybe he shook the kids hand and the kid just kept his hand out for the next player coming out of the tunnel.

That's my biggest reason for wanting Laviolette gone now. He's coaching to keep Peter Laviolette employed, not what the team needs for it's future.

Hard to blame him for that, but you've got Briere dragging Schenn and Simmonds into the poopter and Couturier's playing scared of making a mistake and getting nailed to the pine.

- Jsaquella

This is a good point. The pressure cooker is on high. I remember in the 90s calling FAN 660 in NY, and commenting on how the Rangers (Smith/Campbell) and Knicks (?/Van Gundy) kept trading away their young players and picks for high paid veterans because the GMs and coaching staffs were under tons of pressure to "win now" and they were too impatient to let their young talent develop...

I'm simply not in favor of weakening the big Club to strengthen the prospect pool. That can be done without doing that. Just by using the Draft picks they'll have, and moving older players that no longer seem to fit, such as Briere.

fair enough, i can see the logic and i certainly won't be upset if they keep him. i'm just a little more willing to shake things up

I'm just looking to move players who arent expected back. Also want to listen to offers on other players incase some stupid team wants to overpay and give a fantastic offer.

Talbot, Coburn, and Meszaros I would not actively shop, but I would listen to offers. The players we are not expecting back are obvious, a few should net assets at the TDL.

I think any NHL GM has to do his due diligence and review any incoming trade proposal. At the very least, pause before hanging up the phone

Brayden Schenn?

I've seen glimpses but honestly he hasn't lived up to that World Junior hype yet. Dont know what it is but he doesnt really stand out in an area to me. He could definately turn out to be a good player but its up in the air to me whether he will be a guy you expect to lead your team, or simply one of those secondary players.

He doesnt really excel in one area. Kind of expected more to be honest.

- flyer_nutter

I think B Schenn, at 21 yrs of age, is a very talented player that has yet to find his identity in the NHL. It is very common for young players like him, in their first years as a pro, to show only bursts and flashes of their talent intertwined with some stuggles and/or midling play. It would be a mistake (and one that has been made many times) to misperceive the inconsistent play that is often part of the natural development process as the player being a bust. IMO, Brayden Schenn (barring a trade) will be a key part of this team's future success.

Thats where my issues lie with him.

Will he be one of those players you expect to lead your team? Or just a secondary guy that is decent in all areas but doesnt really excel in one position.

We will see in time. I'm not a huge fan of the kid yet.

That depth from the farm will really be needed if they want to make a true cup run. With their luck in injuries, and the groin reaper always lurking having young kids with cheap contracts who can really step up is key.

The FA thing looks to be more and more risky lately but in 2014 here are some of the following FA: Bouwmeester, Boyle, Phaneuf, Markov, Pitkanen, Gilbert, Quincey, Orpik, Hjalmarsson, Letang, Schultz, Mitchell, Talinder, Girardi, Seidenberg, Ericsson, Phillips, Klesla, Greene, Morris, Niskanen and Mark Stuart are all available. Its a long way away, but looks a lot more promising than the saggy tits that are up for grabs this summer.

- flyer_nutter

There are a few guys on that list that interest me. With Timonen retiring, we lose his 6mil cap hit. We will know one way or another if Bryz gets bought out before that UFA class hits the market. Gotta lock up the kids that summer I believe too.
