Couturier was the top rated prospect heading into his draft year. He had a summer bout with mono and had a slow start, and RNH surpassed him. Kind of funny both are dealing with sophomore slumps

By top defenseman I mean a defenseman who plays 20 plus minutes a game. Obviously, if you trade him for a draft pick, it's about the future. But an immediate replacement is a requirement. If not by return of the trade of Coburn itself. Then by some other means.
Unless is a very high first round pick, which I doubt you'd get for Coburn. Trading him for a lower first round pick is a mistake in my opinion.
I would not be opposed to a deal involving Coburn that brought back NHL ready players, or another defenseman that they felt was a better fit.

- MJL

well, obviously they'd have to replace his spot on the roster. i just meant an "equally talented" replacement. undoubtedly whoever you brought in wouldn't be as good an option. but (at least in my opinion) the future benefits would make it worth it

and fair enough drawing a line after high 1st rounders. i wouldn't require quite as much. i think the stance on exactly how much they'd need to get in a return is a tough one to argue (extremely subjective...at least if we're gonna break it down to exactly where in a particular round the pick would fall). for a late first rounder, i'd want a nice prospect as well. nhl ready (younger) players would be fantastic though

Okay, now they've got that first rounder plus. Are they drafting a defenseman with that pick that can play 20 plus minutes?
- MJL

Not next year. Is that a requirement in order to trade him for a pick? Let's not pretend there are no UFA's available that can do what he does. Sign a ference and a corvo, something like that. Now you have an extra 1st rounder and maybe more in the draft. Why is this concept so hard? If your the flyers you had better take advantage of teams that will overpay at the deadline.

I doubted it would get as deep as it has for him, but I also didn't expect the coaches to bury the guy every time he made a mistake. That kind of poop isn't helping at all.

i blame exlund, personally

EDIT: he probably wanted to play with matt carle

- FlyerMike18

Yeah, I was going to post that Tampa and edit: Pitt might have the inside edge because Sustr went to their prospect camps and there's some familiarity there... Oh well...he's kind of a project anyway...Now instead of Pronger, Carle can mentor him

The Flyers can always sign some of their NCAA draftees, like Shayne Gostisbehere, Reece Willcox or the kid they got in the Boucher trade, Mark Alt.

Or they could snag Danny DeKeyser, the other highly thought of undrafted NCAA UFA

Brodeur gets credit for the goal, too.

Also happened once against the Flyers, where Langkow scored during delayed call into own net

That was around the time he was called Clangkow because he hit the opponent's post more often than the net - except his own. Then he was traded and changed the way his name's pronounced.
