Lupul did not leave his feet and was intending for a shoulder to shoulder hit there quite clearly. Hedman is 6'6 for (frank) sake, Lupul only 6'1. The laws of physics don't even support a suspension there. That's totally on Hedman for putting himself in that dangerous position.

Honestly can say this league's disciplinary system is a joke. Watch the video. He looks directly at his head, squares it up, and jumps into it. Hedman is a big boy, so for Lupul to connect shows that there was some effort there. Granted I thought both Kaleta and Perry should've gotten more than received as well, but just because there is no history or long lasting injury shouldn't discern the punishment being handed out.

The hit is reminiscent of the blind side hits the league is trying to erase.....a la Richards on Booth, whoever cranked Savard and the Paille hit. While not bad it should be a game at least.

Still unsure how Schenn got off without so much as a call from the league for his blatant board of Gerbe a few games back. Gerbe's 42 was clear and visible the whole time and he still destroyed him......no consistency from Shanaban.

Penalty served in game. If they want to clean up hits to the heads, maybe they should make every hit a minimum of a double minor or major. Not automatically threaten suspension on every hit.

Listening to TB this morning on WGR, it seems like they realize the team build isn't working, to publicly state that is a good thing. But again this is Buffalo sports so they will probably go 12-6 the rest of the season, finish 9th, draft 12th and say they only need to add a few pieces here and there over the off season.
