I theorized this last night before I got more specific information. I think he would be involved.
- John Jaeckel

He is a big 1st round pick center who's is just starting to show what he's got. If it is indeed Eller, the return will be huge.

I can't see nothing less than Bickell and Saad. Or if there is a AHL defensman invloved, i can see Ellis and Eller for Bickell and Leddy.

I wouldn't trade you Eller for Saad, 1 vs 1.

Saad from Chi, Eller, White.
- Champ

I like White but he would have to be reigned in a bit, he tends to take bad penalties at the wrong time. He would add that sandpaper the hawks are short of and his cap hit is very reasonable. Not sure what it would take to get him?

I think the plan is sign both and get a 4th liner (at the very least)
- John Jaeckel

If both got re-signed and Stan acquired a solid 4th line centre is be happy. The key to our success is depth. If we can keep this third line together that would be amazing. Although there's always the possibility that Stalberg could move into the top 6.

I am not a fan of that top line at all. I would much rather see a skilled guy from Rockford than Carcillo up there.

I believe the Canadiens need LWs so they would be probably dealing a center in this deal, if it came to fruition.

Carcillo isn't on the first line.

Two rostered Chicago players, 3 rostered Montreal players. All under 25 except one of the Chicago guys. Have not heard anything about AHL players but would not rule that out either.

This has been an ongoing conversation since the summer and might go in to next summer but the contract status of one of the players might force something before the TDL.

But let me add, it is probably unlikely this happens before the summer. And another team is very interested in one of the Chicago assets right now.

- John Jaeckel

Taking my crack at this based off of given info (All under 25 except one hawk player, montreal giving up 2 forwards and one dman, etc)

Hawks give up
2 of: Sharp/Bolland/Stalberg (the one other teams are interested in)/Leddy

Habs give up combo of two of these forwards:
Eller, 23
Pacioretty, 24
Ryan White, 25
Gallagher, 20

and one of the following rostered dmen:

Weber, 24
Subban, 23
Tinordi, 21

http://canadiens.nhl.com/...r.htm?srt=age&type=roster

My guess is Stalberg and Leddy for Eller, White, and Tinordi.

would love Max Pac swapped in a deal for Sharp, but my guess is more minor, younger players are the names that would be involved in the "bigger deal"

Bolland gives you a veteran Cup winning center who you put on the 3rd line and solidifies it defensively with some offensive punch. Don't underestimate this!

Tonight we find out if some of our fears about the Hawks not being physical enough are warranted. Boudreau will be gunning for the top perch in the west and will have his guys playing a physical game. Just one thing stay away from Francois Beauchemin, he may have the best right cross in hockey it is devastating!

Thing is many teams are looking at Eller. Boland is not good enough. Dubinsky is better and Kekäläinen drafted him.

If Stalberg is extended, it really makes this off-season all the more interesting - because someone who a lot of us like isn't coming back.

General consensus has been that Leddy and Kruger are re-upped, and Stalberg is traded around draft day.

I will say, I've been mighty impressed with his game this year. Even outside of a top-six role which I still think he is best suited for, he's created all kinds of match-up problems for teams this season with his speed. Overall game (effort, puck possession, passing, vision) have all come quite a ways this year, and I won't be disappointed if he stays a Hawk for a few more seasons.

I really have to think, at the end of the day, that this means that Leddy is the odd man out. Some folks point to Sharp and Hoss as trade and buyout candidates respectively, and I just don't see it. Sharp has a NTC (I think, someone correct me if I'm wrong), and just bought a huge house and has a new baby - can't see him wanting to up and move. JJ just spoke to the likelihood of a Hossa buyout.

And, Leddy's going to bring a a decent return back from someone - and who knows how much his agent (who the 'Hawks hate) is asking for (I'm guessing its $3M +)

He's good player with great potential, and I wouldn't be happy to see him depart. I just think the writing is on the wall with this one, barring some major deal elsewhere.

Too soon to speculate, perhaps, I know. But especially with the talk of Clendening and Stanton looking competent (and possibly NHL ready) in Rockford, maybe moving Leddy at season's end is the right move.

Side note, Clendening is 5th on the team in scoring this season with 6 G / 31 A , and is a +8. Stats don't necesarily translate, but with a line like that, I'd say he's probably ready to make the jump.

I'd have to believe that if Stalberg is re-upped then Bolland may be on his way out instead of Leddy. There are enough guys in the pipeline that could easily fill the center spot.

As for the idea of Clendening being ready, I disagree. While his numbers are good, his play (especially in his own zone) and decision making is still rough around the edges. I think he'll improve, but I wouldn't pronounce him as being "ready" yet. If Leddy is moved, I wouldn't be surprised if Lil' Bowman starts pumping Clendening's tires much the same way he did with Leddy in 2010-11.

This.

I would hate to see him go, but if Montreal deals with the Hawks, why would they NOT ask for a roster player who can help them in the playoffs? Bolland is a great piece for any team as a shut down center, and has shown he can be a difference maker in the playoffs. If it was Bolland the Hawks were sending, at least they are sending him to an Eastern Conference team so they won't be seeing him unless it was in the Cup...

to me, trading Leddy does not make sense. he's 22 years old, and he is finally showing that he can be a solid NHL defenseman. Rozsival and Brookbank have helped this defensive group tremendously and really stabilized the back end of their defensive unit, but they aren't the Hawks answers long term the way Leddy can be...I just cannot see the Hawks trading Leddy for a rental player.

Your GM was where before? With the Hawks from 2005-2012. He knows the Hawks roster inside out. He knows the value that Bolland brings to a cup winning team
