While I agree, I only move him if I can't move both of Miller and Van. I say this because IMO Pommer is still a valuable contributor offensively and defensively and will command less salary than the other two. The team HAS to be able to at least compete. Pommer would provide something.

I think the team can still go into a full rebuild mode by moving 2 of the 3.

That said, I'd still move him if it meant getting a top 3 pick.

My guess is that they move one of the big three at the deadline and then see where the other two stand on extending - if they are going to test the market - or if they are rediculously high in their demands - they get traded at the draft... Just my guess.

If one of them goes at the deadline it'll be Van IMO. Which I'm fine with because I think he'll garner the biggest return.

Just threw up on myself at the thought of Derek Roy returning to the Sabres...

Garth, please remove any mention of that from your blog, you are really ruining this moment.

This season being a Buffalo Sabres fan has been all but pleasant. There has been frustration from the Blue line, lack of offense, players that has been obsolete in the line up. You see these 20 soldiers that that take the ice each game, and we as fans put all of our faith in them to go out each game and do Buffalo proud and give us a reason to brag why Buffalo is the greatest hockey city in the game. Well, it has been anything but that. People want to be mad at Leino for calling out the team. Mad at Miller for saying what he did about Kaleta (even though he was sandbagged with that question). And we get mad at them. Why aren't we mad at Jason Pominville, who (in my opinion is a sorry excuse for a captain). A guy who got flat out beat and caught flat footed 19 seconds into a game against Washington and makes an excuse for it. "The play happened to fast for me to react". Are you serious!?!?!?!?! You are a professional athlete, if you actually believe that is the case, then maybe its time to hang up the skates if you actually believe that you cant keep up. How about Thomas Vanek, sure the guy blew the doors off of the barn at the beginning of the season. He was the holiest man, but the roar has seemed to have come down. He is the laziest Sabre in his own zone, half of the time he is out dangling between the blue line and center red looking for the "highlight reel" pass so he can get a scoring chance. I could go on about 21, 55, 57.
But when it comes to Steve Ott, here is a guy who just seems to get it. This guy put his nose to the gring game in and game out. There is no excuses. He doesnt get sappy and find a way of justifying a loss. Its just flat unacceptable. He wants to win, and he plays like it every game. He plays with the grit and heart of one that looks like he wants a championship. So with that being said, to me that is a CAPTAIN, he is a leader. He leads by example. So please for the love of god, please let the rest of this team find that heart and will to play the way he does. Us Sabres fans want to brag about this team again!!!

Um - I appreciate your venting, but we all know this. There might be a few that disagree on who of the big three should be faulted more than others, but we all agree that this team underperforms - oh yes - we all like Ott.

My agreeing with you doesnt make you feel better, Im sure of that. So lets talk about where Olli fits into things (someone help me with this one please), tell people they are racist and pound on foreign fans trolling our home!

We have no idea if Leggio is a NHL goalie, you are probably right but I wouldnt mind him getting some starts up here and see what he has. Remember Fasth was deemed to be an AHL lifer and now look at him.

Not saying Leggio=Hasek but remember it took Hasek a few years to even see a shot at starting

- Stripes77

Have you seen Leggio play ? He is not an NHL goalie . Does not control his rebounds well . Those rebounds in the NHL will end up in the back of the net . Used to be another Amerks goalie with very good AHL stats . He even was local too . His name was Tom Askey . We started calling big fat rebounds askey's in his honor . I know folks in Buffalo love the underdog . Especially if he is local . But David Leggio is not the answer.

I can't believe I really have to say it, but the Sabres are not winning the Cup this year, and will need a miracle makeover to even make the playoffs.

In that light, why does Leggio need to be the answer? Goaltending is clearly not our biggest problem. Why not give the kid a shot and find another goaltender in the offseason?

Why are people so concerned about getting a goalie to replace Miller immediately if he is dealt?

I've enjoyed this season so far, the Olli pictures on the threads have been really funny, very good.

Just trade Pomminville, or remove any leadership responsibility from him, he is NOT the captain of this side and the jacket thing is crap. Not too upset they won because FLorida lost as well, although they still managed to give away a 2 goal lead.

Because it would be a disaster . There is a reason he cleared waivers when the NHL rosters were submitted to start this screwed up season . Every other NHL team realized what I just told you . Every NHL team has scouted him at one point or another . They all passed on him ! Does that not tell you something . I love local kids getting a shot , But Mr Leggio would get eaten alive in the NHL . I love him in the AHL for the Amerks.
