Agree, every year there are 3-5 goalies on the fa market. One goalie wouldnt mind seeing in a trade is Minny Backstrom in my eyes hes a lot like Miller been with the team forever could use a change of venue.

I dont see Minny winning with Backstrom

- hubie

Well the issues with him is he is older than Miller and still making 6 mil. We dont need a 6 mil goalie who is older than the one we have

I read nothing from Schopp / Chris or Sal or Jerry Sullivan when it comes to hockey.
None of them have a clue about hockey. Their hockey IQ is below average, especially Sal. Just my opinion.

thanks for your input, because as we all know you are the epitome of hockey knowledge.

the article almost has nothing to do with hockey on the ice. perhaps you should give it a read

I cannot stand Schopp, but you're right. It's spot on, and he's 100% correct that we, as fans, would embrace it as long as we're being told what it is they're doing, their plan for doing it, and where they see themselves after they've done it.

Sign me up.

I, for one, would be as excited as a kid on Christmas to see what we could obtain for the "big 3".

And you know what else?

If I were a GM of a hockey team, and I had these 3 guys that I could probably parlay into rebuilding 1/3 of my team by trading, I would be as excited as a pig in shee-it to see what I could get.

I'm thinking for those three: three younger, established roster players; a few top prospects; and possibly a couple first rounders.

The Toronto Maple Leafs have placed Mike Komisarek on waivers. TSN Hockey Insider Darren Dreger has also reported that Komisarek has waived his no-movement clause. If he is claimed by another NHL club he will report to his new team, otherwise he will report to the Toronto Marlies of the American Hockey League.

I'd keep Pommer and sell off Miller and Van to the highest bidders. Actually, I'd do anything possible to obtain 2 of the top 3 picks. That includes dealing Myers.

He can look at the bright side; he won't have to buy a new house.

Pick him up! The Sabres need some insurance in getting that top 3 pick.

if you are committing to a full rebuild you have to trade pominville. he represents the current era of failure tenfold because he is captain, and 'soft' as we say

I think a huge factor on this team when I comes to the Big 3 debate, is those 3 have been together for a lot of big time failures. Game 7 in '06, the '07 playoff failure against Ottawa. Boston and Philly series failures including the games 6 and 7 failures against Philly. Countless blown leads in insane fashion. Its no wonder this team has no confidence and hangs their heads when one thing goes wrong. The three best players as a group are damaged goods. They need to be moved for a culture change.

While I agree, I only move him if I can't move both of Miller and Van. I say this because IMO Pommer is still a valuable contributor offensively and defensively and will command less salary than the other two. The team HAS to be able to at least compete. Pommer would provide something.

I think the team can still go into a full rebuild mode by moving 2 of the 3.

That said, I'd still move him if it meant getting a top 3 pick.

Have they ever gone into a trade deadline with so many movable assets before? Add Leo and regehr to the big three and I think we could rebuild the roster between now and mid July.

Problem is, 3 of those 5 have NMCs (1 of which I believe is a full NTC in Regehr).

EDIT: Looks like Regehr's is "just" an NMC as well
