And this is also where the chairman needs to trump the prez.

Time to bash McCub........ Bowman came out and said Sharp isn't going anywhere, not the President. You guys take your hatred for the President of this team way to far. The GM of this team signed him to this deal, with a NMC. I don't recall seeing news clippings of the President saying we can't trade Sharp he is to important to marketing.

Yep, also add Stalberg and Bickell playing optimized games—neither has ever been this good in all three zones. Hjalmarsson and Leddy's improvement.

A lotta mo bettah.

If Sharp is asked to waive his NTC I bet he will. Very few players will stay where they are not wanted. The advantage Sharp will have is that he can decide where he goes or doesn't go. Trouble is because of the contract term the Hawks may not get much for him if they should move him.

A couple of very nice places for Patrick Sharp to go.

Winnipeg. His hometown (essentially)
Columbus. If Kekalainen wants to rebuild around speed and a great face of the franchise in the market.

Could also see a fit for his game/experience in: Edmonton, Toronto, Florida

Yeah. Only difference is he's prettier than Soupy and that appears to be invaluable to the front office.

Talk about showing you're not indispensable. Apart from those "tired" games to end the streak, the Hawks haven't missed a beat without Sharp. Good guy, good player, just not worth the cap hit. But of course he's going nowhere with that NTC.

- flahawkfan

Bingo....and he gets you some good chips...despite his taking hits that seem to hurt season after season. Not holding that against him.

I think a lot has to be said about teh job the NHL GMs have to do...
If you ARE planning a subtraction (say, Sharp), you are not looking at the move independantly from your chances to acquire an up & comer some other way who may be your next Sharp.
Bolland is never gonna ask for Sharp money because he is never going to be a sharp-shooter of that magnitude. But, he brings multi-levels of good parts in what he is/does.
You decide just what Sharp's return must fortify, and you proceed.

Just like Bickell (who wants to be here) won't make $offere to stay the difference between continuing to grow as a player

I totally agree that the "pretty boy" option on Shapie is weighed in.

That 6 million a year for Sharp is still a number that is VALUE to Hawks and others which means if he is your next "Campbell launch to keep other rostered players," the Hawks better get more than Olesz in return, and would....

and as we worry fret and think we can improve our Hawk lot, Dougie Armstong in St. Louis is in the complicated Cap position with RFA blueliners Alex Pietrangelo and Kevin Shattenkirk.
He surely doesn't want a choose Alex over Kevin scenario, but wants to have chips & space long term.
What happens if an Edmonton, Calgary or even a Detroit decides to pull a Niemi/ Hjarmalsson signing...
Just saying.... this Cap thing is probably more than 50% of the decision weighing for the GMS...not easy to stay level and competitive and not having havings dejected when they lose Ladd, Buff, Campbell and Versteeg....

Columbus, maybe but I doubt he'd choose to go there. Winnipeg, no way know that we'll be in the same division next season.

I don't think Sharp should be dealt. But regardless of how I feel personally I don't think Stan will deal Sharp, others would go first - Frolik and Bolland for example.

McCub - as you so eloquently put it - is the prez, CEO too. Rocky is the chairman. Thanks though for validating my initial point.

You have to think there are a teams that need and want a scorer NOW.
They don't want a top marquee and larger than Sharp type contract as their GM looks good by taking on a Sharp level deal.

I think that there a GM's in a position to pay equal and especially in Columbus where the difference between drafting three first rounders and waiting and talking about "when they arrive, are ready..." will be close to talking about TWO early in terms "when they arrive, are ready...

Remember, they were burned by draft failure there, and agreed the new guy is excellent at his job of drafting....but you know after recent flubs at acquiring scorers via bad trades .. trading one of your three first rounders is less harsh them trading guys who actually think are assets you want to keep around there.

Just saying that the hawks are not in a bad position if at whomever they decide is a trade chip....this run has all their guys "trending up."
(boy, i hate that expression, never fg saying it again...

If Jagr was available for non roster assets, could he be the catalyst to jumpstart the Hawk's powerplay?

I think that fact Morrow is so dinged up, that his name should be off the list.

Jagr...hmmm..never thought about.

I still hate him and Mario for that Cup final.

Can't let it go....just like Tony letting Lemaire's shot go over his shoulder...

See ya' later.

Validating what point? Your dislike for the President of this team? Let me know where the evidence is, show me any information that says the president of this team told SB he had to overpay and hand a NMC to Sharp.

I don't think the Hawks would have a hard time selling this team with or without Sharp. Every game they play they set a new record in viewership. I don't think that would change that drastically without Sharp. Maybe less ladies would watch. I don't want to bust your chops, but leave the bizarre notion that anytime some deal gets made that people here don't like it had to come from the President.........

The Hawks played a lot without his through his back issues. I don't think they faired too well if I recall correctly, but that might have been attributed to the overall lack of centres during that time.
- TyCamScore

the guy is one of the best playoff shutdown centers in hockey-----we will have to beat this years version of aThornton or a Sedin...........Bolland has proven he can handle all of them in series after series..........there is a brilliance and artistry there that very few possess. And do not minimize who Kanes turnovers are minimized by his center........get used to the fact that he's not a great offensive player but value the very special skills he has.........and are really tough to replace

Sharp has a NMC though (modified I believe, but still). Something important to note...especially with those locations.

By looking at how they are playing Bolland, he won't be a shut down center this year. They are asking him to step up on the offensive side, while still being responsible. I don't want Kane on the Ice drawing the toughest match up, so if Bolland is on his line it won't be against the oppositions best line.

Not so sure. Depends what Chevy wants to do in the offseason. Tweak what he has or semi-blow up and rebuild. There are conflicting reports.

Everyone knows marketing is a strong driver of the overall org, some will so too strong. My point of Rocky stepping in has to do with making sure hockey ops are first and foremost, not marketing.

Why would you want to do that with one of the hardest workers and top pk killer who can also be threat offensively on 3rd or 4th line?
- bogiedoc

Your "offensive threat" has 4 pts in 27 games, 1g 3a.... ill give you his work on the PK, HOWEVER.... I say you pull the trigger on a proven center dot winner that can also play the PK....

i dont understand how thats even an argument?!?!?!?!

I'd rather see that jump start come from a guy on the blue line; whomever that may be available in the next 2+ weeks.
