Kathryn Tappen called him "Martinez" when recapping his goal on the NHL Network. Guess he's not a household name! Whenever the Isles are on national TV and they're trying to say anything Islander-related, I always imagine the announcers on ESPN 8 in Dodgeball when Cotton has to put his glasses on to look at the roster and figure out the names.

For st. Louis? I'll pack his bags and drive him directly to Tampa and carry his bags to the arena for a week.

If St. Louis was the last piece for a Cup team I say find give up the #1. That's not the Islanders. If Tampa can get a #1 from another team that's fine. I look elsewhere for a deadline pickup.

Yeah, that's what a poster said on here which he heard from a buddy(no offense NY178). Does'nt mean it's fact. I've heard lots of rumours from really "reliable" sources and some/most don't pan out. Have a hard time believing why a 37 yr old borderline elite player wants to play for the Islanders who are obviously far out from contending? I understand he's friends with guys on the team but so what? Love to have him none the less don't get me wrong.

I understand... Everyone was talking about it, so I threw my opinion and trade idea in the ring.

Just tired of watching the Isles draft and protect these 1st rd players/picks and none of them pan out (besides JT) Make a move, take a risk... Id rather have St. Louis for 2 yrs next to JT then miss-draft another Okposo or Bailey...

So you think St. Louis has no value to the Isles for the next 2 years?

Value yes just not #1 pick value when the pick could be first overall.

I hear you but if we could get another two years out of him in addition to the 2 hes signed too to me it's worth it. Guy would instantly make this team better, won a cup, we'd have a legitimate winger for Tavares that would prob up his goal total 20%. What he'd do for us overall to me is worth taking a chance on a pick especially since first overall is drifting further and further away.

If Snow got Suter for Okposo, I would erect a statue of Garth.

I agree with you, i don't think a lot of people undertand how much of an upgrade to our team in so many ways St. Louis would be. Too many Isles fans put too much credence in draft picks. If we were clamouring for first overall I could see the argument but we may not even pick in the top five, it's way more of a crap shoot.

We'd have to tank pretty bad to get first overall unless you're counting on the lottery? Florida is really stinking it up right now.

Just strange how Martin went from being on a highly touted line and getting time on the second power-play unit, to getting stuck on a line with Reasoner and Boulton.

Boyes has had a couple of good shifts early on...and that's tough for me to say.

still at work and see ottawa scored on their second shot. not a good start.

***edit*** and I see by the minuses that the fourth line was on the ice. Boulton cannot play a regular shift..good to see Cappy still keeps rolling those lines over.

I thought either Cpt or Vukota would have been all over Howie's line about the condition of the ice: "They had the circus here."

The Islanders have had the better of the play. Ottawas goal was basically a fluke. Martinek had his guy tied up about as well as you can do and a shot from the point just happened to hit his stick.

About 10 days ago Cpt and I were talking about how unimpressive Boyes has been but it seems like he's picked it up since then. Three games ago he eliminated an icing by outracing three other players. Probably no coincidence that word of contract negotiations surfaced around thst time

I thought he had one good pass to JT and was disgustingly horrible for the rest of the period, single handidly ruined the first PP. The guy should not be on the first line, he is ruining that line.
