Id try to work out deal along the lines of:

Martin St. Louis
Brian Hart

for

1st Rd pick (either 2013 or 2014)
Prospect of there choice (Obviously not a top prospect)

Take a risk in giving up a 1st... If the Isles can make the playoffs this year and not necassarily win a round but a few games, it would energize the fanbase immensely and with the possiblity of buying out the lease... Could make the Isles an attractive destination for future FA's and even possibly, new ownership.

The fact that I had to go on Hockeysfuture and hockeydb to figure out who in god's name Brian Hart was did not bode well for me agreeing with that trade.

Well it's more plausible than St. Louis for Martinek.

Me signing with the Islanders as an undrafted free agent is more plausible than St. Louis for Martinek.

So you're saying if the Isles don't have to give up anything of value for a guy that is a more than a PPG player then you're in? Sign me up too, we just have to get Yzerman to agree
- Cptmjl

You do not think Frans would have value for TB? Isles have other value to trade besides the guys I mentioned. If St Louis was 27 that would be different but he is 37 a big difference.

Oooo. What about Wang and Snow which is the main reason no one wants to sign here?

I also had no idea who he was. Lots of fans seem to think Frans has value let's see if he can bring back St Louis.

Yes, but thats also cuz Ryan Smyth is a female dog that cried after he got traded...

Thats also a piss poor (or typical) Isles management job in not trading his rights and letting him walk... Not to mention he wasnt that great a player, nothing like St. Louis

Add Reinhart to that and I'm with you.

Perhaps Nielsen, Okposo and a 2nd!

How about Donovan, KO and a 4th.

I'd look more towards moving Grabner, he is our most expendable forward that has value and. Thinking any team is going to give something good up for Bailey/Okposo, a 2nd, and some prospect is absurd. Not saying you did, just a blanket statement.

I'm busting chops but i really don't think the Isles have anything else worth St Louis to Tampa 37 or not, the guy is an excellent player and has at the very least 2 years left in the tank, he does'nt let up. Mayfiled, Lee, and Nelson probably would'nt get it done believe it or not yet 3/4's of this board would balk at that. Nielsen certainly is'nt. It'd take a first +.

He just seems like a less skilled and less physical Anders Lee to me.

Those two dont help... but with the rumors of Wang maybe selling and playing in NYC... Money is still money. Plus St. Louis did put the Islanders on his list... for some reason

I would think Frans is our most expendable forward with value. I would not mind Nelson on the 2nd line with St. Louis and Grabner. I rather not move Grabner especially for someone 37. If Tampa wanted full value for St. Louis they should have moved him when he was a little younger.

Yeah, that's what a poster said on here which he heard from a buddy(no offense NY178). Does'nt mean it's fact. I've heard lots of rumours from really "reliable" sources and some/most don't pan out. Have a hard time believing why a 37 yr old borderline elite player wants to play for the Islanders who are obviously far out from contending? I understand he's friends with guys on the team but so what? Love to have him none the less don't get me wrong.

Kathryn Tappen called him "Martinez" when recapping his goal on the NHL Network. Guess he's not a household name! Whenever the Isles are on national TV and they're trying to say anything Islander-related, I always imagine the announcers on ESPN 8 in Dodgeball when Cotton has to put his glasses on to look at the roster and figure out the names.
