I don't agree giving a lot for a rental
I would be fine with a conditional pick and stuff if he stays

- Danformo

hes not a rental....

I would rather give up a first rounder than any of the guys making their way to the Island next year.

The only problem is if you don't get into the playoffs... there's the potential that the pick could end up being 1st overall.

I'd have a hard time giving up a first round pick this year for a 37 year old that isn't guaranteed to be here after two more seasons. I don't think we're at the point where he's going to help get us over the hump and win anything meaningful right now.

So you are saying we are only going to score 2 goals which means we will lose??

That's why it's a huge risk. To give up a number 1 pick I would need a younger player back and hopefully get back a top 4 dman.

I agree. I need more of a sure thing for giving up a #1. If the Isles can make the move without giving up a #1, Nelson, Nino or Strome I say go for it.

Add Reinhart to that and I'm with you.

Perhaps Nielsen, Okposo and a 2nd!

It's not that I doubt St. Louis' talent, it's the fact that he's 37 and a UFA in two seasons that scares me.

It also depends where exactly we're picking. If we drop like a stone and end up with a top 5 pick again, no way in hell am I moving it for him. If we get hot (save me the laughing faces and comments, I know it's far from likely) and end up with a pick in the later teens/early twenties, I'd be somewhat more open to it.

Right no Reinhart as well. I would be fine with giving up the likes of Nielsen and KO. You can call up Nelson to take Nielsen's spot.

Id try to work out deal along the lines of:

Martin St. Louis
Brian Hart

for

1st Rd pick (either 2013 or 2014)
Prospect of there choice (Obviously not a top prospect)

Take a risk in giving up a 1st... If the Isles can make the playoffs this year and not necassarily win a round but a few games, it would energize the fanbase immensely and with the possiblity of buying out the lease... Could make the Isles an attractive destination for future FA's and even possibly, new ownership.

No question regarding the talent it's a huge risk though. Isles should have the pieces to make the deal without giving a #1. Like always with the Islanders the money will be a huge factor in the deal.

So you're saying if the Isles don't have to give up anything of value for a guy that is a more than a PPG player then you're in? Sign me up too, we just have to get Yzerman to agree
