sorry, my response was more in reply to the guy who said that even adding oshie to the deal still isn't enough.

See...I said I might think. No reason to lie. Enough with this discussion.

Miller needs a change of scenery. I could see Detroit in the offseason when Howard bolts.

Regher needs to be dealt for a second and a minor prospect. Leopold needs to be dealt.

Stafford to Edmonton, Winnipeg or Minnesota for a first.

Buyout Leino

How do you justify that?

Might lose once to Chicago...

Sadly against Washington or NYI

He's the first piece that needs to go in order to start the rebuild.

so the 2nd or 3rd best d-man in the league, a guy who's a top line forward on almost any team in the league, and another topsix forward isnt' "maximizing your return".

what the hell do you expect to get for him?

maybe you should ask the oilers for RNH, Eberle, hall, yak, and schultz.......or is that still not enough?

- sensarmy_11

Try to understand my point: Pietrangelo/Backes is not enough for me to "even think" about trading Malkin. Adding Oshie, I might think, that's all. And don't say I'm asking too much. Malkin is a generational talent and young.

Only talking regular season here. Playoffs don't count.

With the start Chicago had, if they don't win the Presidents trophy, if their regular season a let down?

So then what if Malkin walks?

Get nothing? The point is any trades like this never really completely match up and one team after years go by can be looked back at and say they got the better end.

If Malkin was traded for a 1st line winger, a 2nd line center, a top prospect and a 1st, maybe they wind up much better off. Use one player to essentially build a team while still having a front line guy leading the forwards and a front line guy leading the backend.

Or maybe in a deal like that the other team wins and Malkin tears it up and overshadows Crosby.

The point is there really is no one for one, because of the cap and types of players.

But it'd be wonderful if people on here lived in the real world. If Shero was faced with losing Malkin for nothing, you think he wouldn't jump at some of the scenario's presented in this thread?

Over 30 minutes.

That is my only concern. The Blackhawks weren't over extending their players' time on ice minutes. It seems at times Bylsma asks a lot out of his defensemen regarding ice time.

Letang and Martin are 11th and 12th overall in TOI/G. Duncan Keith who has led the NHL two of the past 3 years is sitting at 30th overall. Seems like Quenneville is managing his star players minutes more.

- Gunner Staal

With the injury to Letang Bylsma didn't have much of a choice to play Martin that many minutes. The minutes don't concern me as much with the shorten season.

Tough question. Even with their start Anaheim stayed in their back pocket. But when considering they went almost half the season without a regulation loss i would have to say yes.

Well of course if shero knew geno was gonna walk he would do something but apparently thats not the case. God Malkin/Letang is gonna be like Getlaf/Perry was so cue the trade rumors

Malkin will be dealt with one way or another well before his contract is up.

He's still 12th overall in TOI/game for the season with Letang at 11th.

Why not just trade Crosby? That way Malkin will play better without Crosby

I see. The good thing is that we are 100% sure he'll stay. He loves Pittsburgh and is a player that you even pay up to the ceilling if you have to. Geno is such a team player and would never ask for that much anyway

I think it would be as well.

Anaheim has been under the radar with their season so far. With Chicago taking all of the headlines they are right there behind them.

Why would they want a past-his-prime Orpik or a average Niskanen for their top point producer?

They remind me of the Pens when Byslma was brought in.
