Stewart would be good, but they will not want to pay him past next year. For that reason and the uncertainty in his contract I doubt it happens. - Deadstar
Being an RFA the Pens could stand to gain a 1st round pick out of it when they don't match the offer sheet. |

Not saying Parise is even close to as good as Malkin, just a similar impact to the team I think. And Fayne is terrible... - MannySilvers
I know man. After I posted that I had a little remorse, not alot but a little. I can see from the point of view of importance to the team. My comment was more directed at comparing the 2 players which I realized after was not what you were doing. |

If we trade Letang I'd hope it would be for Eberle or Hall. - Orpik44
So you would trade Letang because he wants 6-7m for another forward who already gets 6m? |

Wow---I just don't see it. Last year maybe. Right now the 3rd and 4th lines are more important. In some ways I would love it. Others I'm a bit unsure. I've made it no secret that Stewart is a favorite of mine. He'd be our more talented version of Wayne Simmonds.
- HopintheCordoba
He would be amazing with Sid, and although Kunitz and dupuis are on another level with Sid, they are 33 and not getting any younger. Stewart is a guy you can lock up long term like we did with Neal and not have to worry about #sidneedsawinger for the next 7-8 years.
I'd like Sobotka from the blues too. |

Is this the year that we trade you Hejduk for a cup run. I swear that rumour has been on this site for 4 straight years now. |

The hard part of the question is what do you with the other player and when.
I don't think you are going to see a lot of Parise or Suter situations in the future. Cory Perry and Smith (Phoenix) are similar this year.
Teams are going to evaluate their assets and if they are not able to get cover the player under their cap they will move them before the final year. Maybe Letang gets moved the summer before. In effect, he gets the equivalent of being able to negotiate a deal a year early and Pittsburg gets a fair return (déjà vu Staal all over again). |

Easy, easy---I'm almost drooling. It's a tough deal to even imagine because of the season he's having. If it were last year, the Penguins may have had a shot at him. I think that's dead and gone now. I'd love to be proven wrong though. |

Just heard from Rossi that Tangers injury is not serious, not expected to miss much time at all. Listen for the tears of Despres to hit the ground. |

The thought of going to arbitration scares Shero. Then you're looking at a high price for one year for an UFA the next year. I think there's just a short window between now and the end of the year where a contract would need to be worked out. |

Orpik, Kunitz, Dupuis, they all are getting some wear on the tires. If you can turn a Niskannen or some of the stock piled D we have into a Chris Stewart, you'd be crazy not too. If those 3 I mentioned have their salaries come off the books over the next 2 years, the resigning of our core players would be less difficult even with another 25 year old winger in the fold. It may be a long shot, but given Shero's record in trades (Hossa, Neal, etc.), I agree with Gunner, this is right up his alley. |

Based on Shero's comments you never know. He was quoted as saying that he is touching base with GMs about 'needs' for the team and that's about it. 'Need' not 'want'. The 3rd and 4th line along with better PK play are needs. |

I know they tinkered with the arbitration rules but I can't remember how. |

I have to side with my main man reformed Bartley on this one. Stewart would be nice but i'd rather upgrade line 3/4 on the cheap. - canadianpenfan
Would love to have Stewart, but don't need him. The cost would be big - return wise and cap wise. We need to make small deals, not a huge one.

Who told you he wants $6, 7M? For $6M I'd keep him forever. We are talking about a possibility of him wanting more like Doughty, Suter and Weber money. |

I should hope so. I just tend to think this is a year too late. Stewart is fitting in with St. Louis and they have money to spend. It doesn't add up. |

Good column by Kovacevic today:
http://triblive.com/sport...dupuis-team#axzz2NuDrQz2H - rival22
Great article. Paulie is beoming the man to his teamates and he is truely moved by their praise. Vokoun admonishes them when he is not playing to stop being stupid with the puck.
These are the things that happen when a team really gels and comes together. Really a very enlightening article about what is going on in the locker room. |

Yeah, you would certainly think so. Definitely a very tempting player. Fights, scores, skates well and is in the best shape of his career. |

Doubt it.
Difference is that's like our whole team. You guys losing Malkin would be like us losing Parise, and say what you want but the Devils are pretty much in the same spot they were at this point last year with Marty being out for half of it, plus the other difference is we lost Zach for nothing - MannySilvers
I know my roomate is a devils fan...but i still dont trade geno if i had to choose id trade letang but would rather have both. |

One of my favorite parts. I laughed loud enough to have people in my office stare me down.
The sport's iconic star, who has reached perhaps the performance pinnacle of his career, will sit alone at his stall while reporters crowd that of the goaltender, a stay-at-home defenseman and a fourth-liner.
That happened late Saturday afternoon. Sidney Crosby waited a bit, saw no cameras and microphones coming, stood up, smiled in bemusement and strolled out of that room without being asked a blessed question.
