I dont see why it's assumed Malkin is getting more than Crosby. The cap is going down next year. as I said, 8 years at 8.7 and they can structure the money however they want.

How could you be against seeing Max Talbot in a pens uniform again? He brings energy, grit, and is possibly one of the better grinders the in penguins history. He doesn't score a lot of goals, but they are always big ones. How could you forget that this guy scored our only two goals in game 7 to win us the cup? Flyers jersey or not, he will always be a part of penguins history...and I'd love to get him out of a Flyers uniform ASAP
- Killian

Cause he's too expensive..... We are killing Kennedy for having 4 goals and making 2 million a year so why not acquire a 3 goal 1.75 million dollar player who we have to give up a mid round pick to get?

Shero wouldn't give him that kind of money 2 years ago so I really can't see why he would want him back for what he brings to the table especially when that 2 million can go to Letang.

I said 8/72 which I think would be on the high end. I can see them inking a deal for what you said. My point is he isn't getting a big raise if at all.

If I were the Penguins I would consider trading Malkin. It may seem ridiculous but I feel the Pens have proven they have enough talent to win without him, and I'm sure they'd get something ridiculous in return, whether it leads to a team with tons of depth or a fantastic looking future (be it draft picks or prospects).

Also as just a general NHL fan I'd love to see Malkin on another team where he could be the center piece and superstar. He's just been a lot more fun to watch when Crosby has been out. The combination of Crosby and Malkin is definitely not greater than the sum of its parts.

PENGUINS 2, BRUINS 1

FINAL
Team Notes:

With today’s win the Penguins have won a season high nine-straight games, the second-longest streak in the NHL this season. The win also extends a season-high home win streak to eight games.

Today the Penguins concluded their fifth set of back-to-back situations. This season they have gone 8-2 in back-to-back situations. Pittsburgh is 4-1 the first day and 4-1 in the second game.

The Penguins are 6-1 this season in day games.

The Penguins have now won six straight against the Bruins.

Pittsburgh has now gone 13 consecutive games with at least one member of the team’s top line – Sidney Crosby (6G), Chris Kunitz (12G), and Pascal Dupuis (7G) – scoring a goal. During this span, the trio has tallied 50% (25 of 50) of Pittsburgh’s goals.

The Penguins two goals today have increased their overall total to 106 goals, the top total in the NHL.

Pittsburgh’s penalty kill unit has killed off 11 of the last 12 (92%) shorthanded chances over the last five games – including both of Boston’s chances today.

Pittsburgh has scored the first goal of the game 21 times after scoring the opening goal today, tying them with Montreal for the most such goals in the NHL. The Penguins lead the NHL with 16 wins when scoring the first goal.

Today’s game marked the first time the Penguins have been held under 20 shots in 308 games. Pittsburgh was last held under 20 shots on Jan. 30, 2009 at New Jersey (16 shots).

Player Notes:

Sidney Crosby’s 13th goal of the season opened today’s game. Crosby leads the NHL in points (48) and assists (35). Against the Bruins, Crosby has recorded 19 points (6G-13A) in 12 home games.

With a win today, Tomas Vokoun has now won four consecutive games. Vokoun has stopped 68 of 70 shots (.971 SVP) over the past three games.

Joe Vitale scored the game-winning goal – his first tally of the season. His last goal was Feb. 26, 2012 against Columbus.

Chris Kunitz’s assist on Crosby’s goal gives him points in six of his last seven home games (6G-4A-10PTS). Kunitz has points in five straight games against the Bruins (2G-3A-5PTS). Since joining the Penguins, Kunitz has notched 10 points (6G-4A) in 13 career games against Boston.

Pascal Dupuis’ assist on Crosby’s goal continued his point streak to three games (3G-1A-4PTS).

In 23:58 minutes played, Brooks Orpik led the Penguins in blocked shots (6) and hits (7). Orpik also assisted on Vitale’s game-winning goal, his seventh point (7A) of the season.

Doubt it.

Difference is that's like our whole team. You guys losing Malkin would be like us losing Parise, and say what you want but the Devils are pretty much in the same spot they were at this point last year with Marty being out for half of it, plus the other difference is we lost Zach for nothing

Without a doubt Malkin. I definitely don't want to see either leave but at least the Pens have some solid puck-moving defensemen in the system to replace Letang if he bolts.

I can't believe this is that close. To me, its a no brainer. You keep Malkin over Letang. Tanger is easier to replace. We have options in the system and stand a better change replacing him. Despres could replace him possibly; same with Morrow maybe or someone else. We have who in the minors that can replace Malkin? With Bennett up, we have nothing but maybe Tyler Kennedy types in the system at forward.

You can't keep both either. Keep both, you run the risk of having five very good players and then AHL talent around them. Sorry, that doesn't lead towards success. You need quality depth around these players ... not a bunch of Tanner Glasses.

Tanger is starting to show some wear as well. He is a great Dman and we could get a load in return for him. You can never get enough in return for Malkin.

I really think Shero should be looking to see what he can get for Tanger in the offseason.

So does Kennedy. All of them in division games or close games this year.

I'd re-sign both and trade Letang in a few years IF needed.
Oneonta, Glass makes $1.1M/year We could have done a better job with that value.

Yeah it sounds odd but Sid could do this year what Malkin did last year. If he does that'll keep negotiations at an even level I think. I think both sides could work a deal anyway but add in Sid possibly winning all the same awards Malkin did.

I think you get my point with the Glass comment.

I still say you have to deal Tanger, or look into it. He will want 7 million per. That, coupled with Crosby at 8.7, Malkin at 8.7 or something like that, Neal at 5.0, Fleury at 5.0 and to be honest Kunitz probably needs to be extended two years I say when he is up. That is alot of money trapped in a few bodies.

Shero didn't collect all these defense prospects for poops and giggles.

Definitely the preferred method. Obviously Malkin is the priority but you want both.

When it comes to Glass, we just have to hope he can step it up to be traded or just to eat his deal. Plus, He's 1 of 3 guys on the roster that'll throw down consistently and 1 of 2 that actually gets to play.
