yeah... some people are so anti iginla here... wonder who would be so adamant about the pens not getting iginla... they could be hiding among us... mingling their black and gold sweaters with ours... maybe sipping on some clam chowder...

I think most of us are evaluating the cost and the style of the GM's. For instance, I don't see Ray Shero trading young, very promising prospects for a rental. He's actually said that's something he will not do. He's been VERY adamant about it. Then you look at Feaster who needs to hit a home run with aging stars..... and that's IF he can even accept the fact his team isn't really a contender.

It just doesn't seem like a fit

Perry and Getzlaf both now signed long term. Wow. Congrats to the Ducks and their fans. Good for them.

I ain't got no problem with anyone who thinks iginla would be too expensive, only those that try to argue he wouldn't help the team, in many ways, improve. I'm only hoping shero doesn't get complacent and not try to bring in a veteran depth top 6-9 forward (iginla would be fine, but there are many names out there) and another 4-5 d-man who could maybe move bodies. those aquisitions may take a prospect, of which we are loaded. worth it for a better chance at the cup...

Clowe is having a poopty year. He doesn't demand a high return. Murray isn't great shakes. You are giving up too much for those two.

I don't see how anybody could say he wouldn't help the team.

I think you're due to be disappointed. I think it's more than likely the Pens only bring in a bottom 6 player or two. Maybe another depth D.

You continue to miss the entire point of why Iggy isn't necessary.

you continue to miss the entire point that nobody is really necessary, but there are lots of players that could help... including iggy. every time I ask you how iggy doesnt improve the team you dodge the question. he isn't necessary, we score enough, he'll cost too much for a rental... fine... I agree with most of that, only exception being his cost and only if we make a run. but how does he not improve the team as it stands?

maybe but it's possible we are going to regret it. a serious injury could happen next year and hurt our chances... knock on wood... Malkin's parents might refuse to come to watch him play next season... we are doomed. knock on wood. crosby could get into a motercycle accident or be accused of sexually molesting a girl in a bar... who knows... if you have the opportunity the pens have now it would be a shame to waste it

haha that's great. All we needed.

Agree with you about the depth and the need to shore up the roster with a couple guys you can trust being in the line up at any time. We need that.

I think that had a lot to do with Sid's love and fear of numerology, but I agree.

Interesting scheduling note....the Flyers don't play again until they play the Pens Sunday....which means they likely will be even further behind the teams they are chasing by the end of the weekend...meaning the Pens could REALLY land a knockout blow Sunday.

Hopefully Geno does the same as Sid again. I think those 2 are pretty close and love Playing together. We are truly lucky

Would Iggy help this year? Yes. Would the cost of giving up all those pieces hurt a few years down the road? Most likely.

All I can see Shero doing is looking for a top 12 forward or 2 and a top 6 defenseman.
