So the Flyers are done.
I find it not the least bit ironic that most of their board is talking about dumping UFA's and hoping to get a lottery pick since its the deepest draft in years. Is that a familiar strategy to anyone here? |

Well...Calgary lost, as expected. They put on a lot of pressure in the end but fell. |

The Flyers would never do that. They are a team of honor. |

It's become pretty clear how hard it is to make up ground with all of the games in conference though. With only 10-12 games after the deadline, making up more than 5-6 points or passing more than one team is nearly impossible. - rival22
I generally agree, but you know how competitive some of these owners and GM's are. It's not acceptable for the Flyers and Rags to not be in the post season. Then you look at some other teams like the Isle and Columbus etc that are real close and their fan bases are starving for the post season. It's going to be hard for a GM to make that decision only being a few points out. One thing's for sure, it will be a SELLERS market....big time. |

My take on Iginla? He's another Kunitz from what I've seen from him at this point of his carreer. If we were to trade for him and re-sign the guy, $4M/year would be the right deal to make. He's not worth our best d-prospects I think..
Dumoulin+1st is good enough, and maybe throw Jeffrey in the deal. |

Can you say this about 20 times more? He isn't worth a first. You send a first to fill a NEED, like a Dman we NEED.

Interesting scheduling note....the Flyers don't play again until they play the Pens Sunday....which means they likely will be even further behind the teams they are chasing by the end of the weekend...meaning the Pens could REALLY land a knockout blow Sunday. |

Still hoping Holmgren still thinks they are in it and sends a first and Read, or Couterier to Winnipeg for Big Buff and they miss the playoffs by a point.

If there is a time Holmgren is going to try to make moves, it would be right now. It allows the new players time to come in and get a few practices under their belt. JMO

You have to be prepared. What if Bennett or Kunitz go down with an injury? You have to have a deep roster to make to the finals. Not saying to bring only Iginla, could be any other top 6 guy. |

Yeah, a GM looking to save his job isn't going to sell. Even sellers are going to have trouble moving overpaid players with cap going down. I wonder if anyone will eat money in a trade. |

Maybe, but they are a mess. Couldn't hardly get out of their own end in the last 2 minutes against Tampa Fricking Bay. I'd expect their best effort against the Pens Sunday, but the reality is they have too much ground to make up and too many teams ahead of them. |

yeah... some people are so anti iginla here... wonder who would be so adamant about the pens not getting iginla... they could be hiding among us... mingling their black and gold sweaters with ours... maybe sipping on some clam chowder... |

I like both names. Don't know what it would take but they would add to our roster. Thing is SJ is probably making the post season. |
