We appreciate what he brings, just wouldn't want to spend/give up too much to acquire him. For the right price, considering his age and all, I'd take him any day. - Orpik44
Well the Jagr comparison is just embarrassing. But anyways, if the Pens want to win another cup they have to strike while the iron is hot. A defensive prospect (given the fact Pit has so many) and a first round pick doesn't seem like a lot to me. |

A pick and a prospect isn't that much considering how much Iginla would help. If you wanna win the cup again it's a move you have to make...unless you want to bow out early again this year? - The-O-G
I'd only consider such a move if we had the guarantee Iginla would re-sign with us for around $4M, for 2-3 years.
Dumoulin+1st and Iginla signed for 3 years at $4M. Deal |

I know exactly what iggy brings which is why I personally want him more than any other player especially because of his leadership qualities but I'm not willing to trade a roster player as well as a 1st rounder in a deep draft and probably a roster player - Genev21
The problem is we don't want the asking price is exactly. I don't think that is a whole lot to ask anyways.
What if the Bruins were willing to do it? Would you rather him go there? |

Well maybe he would....and I could see it happening, especially if he didn't win it this year with them. |

Stop. Do you know exactly what we need or our perceived weaknesses are? Be honest. I'm not sure Calgary fans know too much about teams out east and what they truly need at the deadline. I think we could use one or two Flames, but not Iggy.
I don't like forking over a first and a top D prospect for strictly a rental either. |

I'd love to see him go to Philly for Couturier+Read. |

It's a lot to give up young assets for an older player who could leave at the end of the season any way and I would still take out offense now over Boston's with iggy and hopefully we adress our defense so that would also be more comforting |

some people appreciate what he brings, but some disagree whether it would be an overpayment or not.
and whther it is an overpayment would only be able to be determine after we see how far into the playoffs we get... tough call |

The question ... will Boston pay that price? They don't have a good system. I don't see Shero being a cat that will send the goods to Boston just to keep him away from the Bruins.

seriously though... even if iggy retired or returned to the flames, would a first and even maata or harrington not be worth a cup... it's assuming a lot, but I'm curious if people would rather hoard those peices or win the cup. no antagonizing intended in this question at all... just curious
edit... question applies to any rental, not just iggy |

I'll always think Cup 1st if we know we have a very good chance of getting it or maximizing our chances doing a trade. |

you are assuming alot. You are assuming that Iggy is the missing piece to the puzzle. Others here believe he isn't. You know my stance.
I hope Calgary continues to give management false hope they will be in the playoffs and Iggy stays. |

But wouldn't it be wiser to improve a greater weakness in the defense that could help secure a cup because there doesn't appear to be a problem scoring goals |

Neither... we are keeping both... we have enough young d to spend cheap on defense, at least for a little while... martin's last contract year is gonna possibly be an issue though... - ChrisMS
If they have to they will buy Martin out if his contract is an issue im sure. If it keeps one of geno or letang out see ya martin. |

Martin is playing great but for this kind of dough, if it was a matter of keeping Letang and Geno, I think they would do that too...or just trade him. You can always find a team in need of d-man. |

No surprise, but Andrej Sustr, 6-foot-8 Univ of Nebraska-Omaha junior dman (UFA), has officially decided to leave school/field NHL offers.
This guy was in the Pens prospect camp this summer, and former teammate of Pens prospects Jason Megna and Josh Archibald.

This kid is a stick! 200 pounds only. No wonder they didn't say his weight.
He improved every year: 9, 17 and 25 points each year. |
