Sporting News article on Iginla. Penguins, Blackhawks and Bruins with interest.

Everything hinges on re-sign as we've mentioned before. If it's TK and maybe a 3rd then we can talk. I'm not high on giving up a defensive prospect unless we know he will return after this year. Also, there may be other options similar for cheaper.
Meh. ? |

My Malkin for Piets and Backes idea was all hypothetical. Relax everyone. It's a deal that is very impossible, I understand that. No doubt in my mind Malkin resigns, it's just if he happened to be traded, those are 2 players I really like.
Does anyone think dupuis will resign at his price tag now? You'd have to think his agent will try to get much more after the past 2 seasons. Then again Shero can counter with he's only that successful because of sid |

I'm waiting for Gunner's article, I want to see what he thinks is the best way of going about getting him. - canadianpenfan
I do want to say that I like him as a player and ambassador for hockey. My beef is with asset management.
Here is my article on how to get him:

Just for the sake of asking:
Who would u rather have on this team if one of the two were to come, considering the cost of acquiring each one: Iginla or Jagr?

Jagr all day long. Won't cost nearly as much. On top of that his play along the wall is superb and a potential great mesh with Sid.
You will get neither though. |

Neither... we are keeping both... we have enough young d to spend cheap on defense, at least for a little while... martin's last contract year is gonna possibly be an issue though... |

and iginla... obviously actually, really, jagr... but only to bench him throughout the entire playoffs... like pittsburgh dad says... I knew he was a bad idea... he's got jag right in his name |

Good to see most of the people here would rather have Jagr than Iginla. The cost of acquisition obviously was taken into account. I also would take Jagr for a playoff run. |

At 6'3 240 pounds he's such a bull. Hard to push him around. Then you have all that vision and skill..scary to picture him on the top 2 lines. |

Has nothing to do with that and more to do with a desperate franchise trying to overcompensate for starting their rebuild 5 years too late. |

Word is jagr isn't back with Philly this year because he was "uncoachable" but I'm not really sure what he needs to be coached on at this point he's what 42? |

We appreciate what he brings, just wouldn't want to spend/give up too much to acquire him. For the right price, considering his age and all, I'd take him any day. |

Most of us do know what he would bring to the table. However some of us believe he doesn't bring to the table what we would need the most; therefore would want Shero to look for players that would fill said needs.
What he brings and what we need are two totally different things IMO. |

A pick and a prospect isn't that much considering how much Iginla would help. If you wanna win the cup again it's a move you have to make...unless you want to bow out early again this year? |

I know exactly what iggy brings which is why I personally want him more than any other player especially because of his leadership qualities but I'm not willing to trade a roster player as well as a 1st rounder in a deep draft and probably a roster player |
