You can sign AHL contacts that don't count against the allotted 50 contracts, but you also have the slide rule with some players which makes contracts not count against the 50. - LeafMan
Have we ever seen a drafted prospect (protection list) signing an AHL contract before signing his ELC? |

There are a few teams hurting at centre. Maybe a bad contract and a good prospect + a pick. So when we fall out of the playoffs and go into seller mode, that could maybe work?
(FYI, I don't want to trade Grabo because I still believe in him. He's a great 2c when he is going) - markmark
Using the term great is a stretch to say the least. |

A bit. I agree with the people saying be patient before throwing him into the fire. It makes me sad that Edmonton didnt give Schultz more. - sanfordnson
And Schultz is four years older |

I don't think Nonis needs to wait and see if the leafs 'fall out of the playoffs', if he finds a buyer for Grabovski (which is slim to none), he'd be gone in a heartbeat.
McClement can fill the third line centre position permanently.

Good question, I'm not sure, only seen it in the NHL, B. Schenn was one with the LA Kings a few years back. |

Imagine if Reilly adapted greatly and could keep up with guys like that at 19 years old. I wonder what that would do for his confidence???
It would be interesting to see if he could keep up considering his skating skills. |

IMO, I disagree. A great 2C player means still not good enough for the first line so I stand by it. Not saying he is "a great," just that he fits a 2C position perfectly when he is playing his best. (Also dont forget the "when he is going" part haha) |

Edmonton is not deep enough on the back end and are too young up front.
Leafs atleast have Dion, Franson and Fraser plus a much better team system than Edmonton to reduce the hottest of that fire. - HipHopisDead
I wont respond with venom. I will point out that the GA and SA/G per team between Edm and Tor is essentially a wash. Wont point out Phaneufs numbers either. Franson has provided dece offence. Fraser? Really not sure where youre going with this actually. |

Nothing that most rookie dmen dont go through. Learning to control his gaps properly and getting schooled occasionally. I wont complain. Kids got crazy talent. |

Thx man, i'll check that. I was asking because I find this weird because we usually see undrafted player joining AHL after their CHL playoff are over. And giving an AHL tryout or contract before the ELC doesn'T sound right to me. |
