Dude - Reilly is a stud. Best D on the world Junior last year... well maybe Ouellette played a bit better. He was not utilized properly by Kitch Coach who played Murphy like a fiend. Bad mistake.
The only thing I worry about with Reilly in the AHL or NHL is his strength because he's a kid. However he was the strongest guy at the combine last year. - HipHopisDead
He's still a baby. Let him grow for a few years. Even in the AHL most of the players are men. They will physically punish him at this stage. |

I actually like this better as the checking line then Grabovski being on it. - LeafMan

I mean, the Leafs CHL prospect who haven't still signed their entry level contract like the ones he were referring: Connor Brown, Matt Finn, Garret Sparks. - Toball777
Sparks is the only prospect that Leafs have to sign this off season or they lose him or he goes back into the draft.
Have to double check but I believe that is correct.
You have to be signed to a NHL or an AHL contract to play in the AHL. |

Who would want him?
He's overpaid. I don't fault Burke for handing out that contract - we were so thin at centre, you absolutely had to keep him. But he's so overpaid for what he provides. |

He went where he should have, he's playing where he should. And we should all respect that he's developing.
I would argue about your second point, but thinking about a 4th place finish is too painful especially because of where I live and the poop people threw at me. - AdamFrench
You would argue about how useless Murphy was and how non-existant Hamilton was?
I would agree that Reilly needs to develop as he tore the crap outta his knee last year but I would agrue with his skill exceeds any prospect we've had - well ever. I would think that if he has the strength do deal with NHL corners he would figure the NHL pretty quickly considering he skates like Coffey. |

Yep. It will be good for him. Playing against guys like Lucic, Horton, Crosby, etc as a teenager will only help his confidence. |

He may hate him right now........... but up until about a week ago, he was loggin MAJOR minutes. So its not fair to say he hates him. More like he is very disappointed in his recent play. |

There are a few teams hurting at centre. Maybe a bad contract and a good prospect + a pick. So when we fall out of the playoffs and go into seller mode, that could maybe work?
(FYI, I don't want to trade Grabo because I still believe in him. He's a great 2c when he is going)

Ya thx. But my point was that the original poster gave 3-4 names of CHL Leafs prospect who're not in their ELC that could join the Marlies once their playoff is over.
Given that the leafs are near the max contracts limit, they can't send them with the Marlies anyway. |

A bit. I agree with the people saying be patient before throwing him into the fire. It makes me sad that Edmonton didnt give Schultz more. |

You can sign AHL contacts that don't count against the allotted 50 contracts, but you also have the slide rule with some players which makes contracts not count against the 50. |

Edmonton is not deep enough on the back end and are too young up front.
Leafs atleast have Dion, Franson and Fraser plus they playmuch better team system than Edmonton to reduce the hottness of that fire. |

And who are you, the proud lord said that I must bow so low?
Only a cat of a different coat, that's all the truth I know.
In a coat of gold, or a coat of red; a lion still has claws.
And mine are long and sharp my lord, as long and sharp as yours. |
