And his 677th in the league +/- and 47th in points, say a lot. I think they should have to pay the team back when they perofrm so poorly. - bixll
haha ...glad you're not my employer!
Gino's been the best player in the NHL at times in his career. Sid's better of course but Gino's right there. They got matching 'team friendly' deals last time so I imagine they will again - except Gino's won't have the 4 year cap decelerator on the back end. My guess is 8 x 10.75ish.
Just to piss the trolls off though we should all develop the opinion that Gino will have to be traded this summer and of course his connection to Kulemin means he's coming to the Leafs. He'll practically demand it.

Then they should ask for more when they do good!

More than his scheduled salary, just give him the team.. that is crazy Robin.
He signed the big deal after a big year, when you sign a deal of that amount of ching, I would expect you to put up similar numbers at lthe least.
He was supposed to lead them to the glory land, not the poor house. |

That's why I'm a firm believer that, outside a first year base contract, all contracts should be year to year and based on the prior years performance.
I guarantee you'd have players giving 100% all the time since their production governs their salary. - tmlfan69
Didn't Alexei Kovalev "accidently" try to this method? He'd sign shorter term deals then have a poopty year followed by a great year. You'd have to be pretty creative to come up with a formula for payment ....get ready to watch Union/Owner updates for the next decade. |

Yeah.. Ive been all through BC and Alberta and nothing comes close to Algonquin park. That lake is unreal. Crystal clear water, the lake is over 300ft deep (deepest in the park), ringed with 150ft cliffs. The water is green too, headwater lake. I can't tell you its name because its a hidden gem, but with the info i provided you could easily figure it out. - Arctic_AARDVARK
I don't know man, I love Algonquin but damn some of those valleys and mountain ranges in northern Alberta are simply amazing! |

For sure ...and I can only assume Gino will too. Crosby could get more but takes less to stay their with Gino ....really they should have one agent.
And it should be me.
5% of 20 million annual salaries = 1 milly in agent fees annually.

I was very pro-owner in the last lockout, but I just can't get behind the "no guaranteed contracts" movement.
If a player can't rip up his contract, the owner shouldn't have the option.
And yes, I know in the real world you can be fired.
But the NHL isn't the real world - they put such extensive restrictions on the individual rights of players, you can't compare it. |

They have their own problems ......massive, and I mean massive, signing bonuses. Guys get cut when it makes "salary cap sense" in the NFL not when they should based on performance. It's even more (frank)ed up.
The NHL has the most 'owner friendly' CBA in all of sports. By owners I mean the cheap ones. |

Remember when your dad would set up the slide projector and screen in the basement to look at the summer vacation slides, and you'd be bored after 3 minutes, but you had to stay the whole time because it took so long for your dad to set up the slide projector and screen in the basement? |

The mountains are cool to see at first, but there are no hardwoods, hardly any lakes. i find it very unforgiving. I snapped this pic on the Castle Mountain trail.. Pretty nice i guess. |

Question was asked how can Malkin ask for more than Crosby....well, if I'm his agent I point to that little trophy in the corner collecting dust that crosby didn't get.....CONN SMYTHE! WOOOOO
Seriously though, if he wants to stay in Pitts he'll take less than sid, but if he doesn't....man oh man.....sky's the limit |
