I don't agree with that point, at all really. Grabo does need to shoot more though, and could probably use a different winger then Kulemin.
- Leafland

One thing ive noticed about Grabo is his release is much slower than before. I don't know why but it seems like he take longer to get a shot off.

As much as people like to stand up for Grabs by saying he's in a checking role, at no point was Grabs not expected to put up points.

He makes 5.5 per. Carlyle knows what he is expected to do. Grabs was given plenty of opportunity to produce, but all he ever does in the offensive zone is play the cycle along the boards.

He has nowhere near the speed in the neutral zone he used to have.

That contract will bite us if we don't buy him out. He's damn near 30 years of age and cashed in on his last year chance to do so.

Dion should, and realistically could be moved. We didn't pay a lot to get him, so I don't mind if it's for a smaller price

A thought experiment:

Take anybody on the Leafs or in the system.

Pair him with Korbinian Holzer.

Play this pairing 27 minutes a night against Ovechkin, Crosby, Giroux, Stamkos, etc.

Does anybody have any reasonable guesses as to how this pans out?

I'm sure a trade will happen or in the off season and either the leafs get somebody in here that is a great checker and then they can put Grabo back on the 2nd line or 1st or whatever it was last year...it was back and forth. ( if he's the one that doesn't get traded )

I don't even mind him as much right now, first 10 games or so he was horrible. This team needs a good right handed Dman with him.

This guy is who needs to be in the Leafs pipeline.

Andrej Sustr, Junior, Nebraska-Omaha, Defence (6’8″ 225 lbs):
At 6’8″ Sustr is an absolute giant on the Nebraska-Omaha blueline. A junior he has one more year of eligibility left, but is expected to forego his senior season in order to sign a pro contract. Sustr has some offensive ability, as he is a very strong passer, with good vision. His first pass out of his own zone is extremely good, and he is poised with the puck in all zones. He also has a heavy shot. Defensively his size is an asset in winning board battles, cutting down passing lanes, and blocking shots. However he’s not the big, punishing hitter that many would expect out of a guy his size. His skating also needs some work, as it does with many young defencemen his size, as he can be beat by quicker forwards. Expect Sustr to be a bit of a project and spend some time in the AHL, but given his physical attributes, its a project that many teams will think is worthy of taking on.

Nonis needs to throw the cash at him.
