Why are the Leafs letting this kid stagnate on the Marlies?

They need to call him up to the big club before they kill his spirit.

He could easily play on the Leafs' top pairing right now.

Thanks for taking my call. I'm going to hang up and listen.

i don't get that either. everyone keeps saying that it's because he's close to having to clear waivers and there's a logjam at defence in Toronto. but A) isn't that logjam full of crappy players like Komisarek, Liles and Holzer? B) what is the worry about Gardiner having to clear waivers? why would he be sent back down? soemthing stinks about the whole situation revolving Gardiner and i hope, for the Leafs' sake, this isn't a Carlyle-Gardiner issue...

Fair enough.. although I was just trying to get my opinion out there. I'm not trying to be a journalist over here, simply posting on a fourm. Now if you can get over my grammar or spelling mistakes.. what is everyone else's opinons ?
- Hockey61

I can live with the spelling and grammatical mistakes, but I'm not happy with the excess capitalization. Why did you feel the need to capitalize "Benifical" (sic)?

OK, now that I've got that off my chest, I'm thinking the next two weeks of watching Rielly play with men instead of boys may have a bearing on what to do with Gardiner. If the kid looks terrific, it does give the Leafs the option of dealing Gardiner (for something really, really good. Not for a puck bag).

Oh by the way, I'm not actually happy with your spelling and grammatical mistakes. Clean it up, buttercup.

I agree with you McWedgie. If Rielly shows the ability to play with the big boys, the Gards just may be used in a big trade.

Dallas Eakins track record of playing prospects who finish their CHL season has been a few games or more here and there as to be fair to the players who have been there all year, so unless he has been told to play Rielly or because of injuries, I see the same pattern continuing. Jake Gardiner played something like 10 out of 16 or 20 games when his season finished.

Percy played 4 games out 35 or so games played, including the playoffs last year. He doesn't play CHL callups that much.

Hey Mike ... I know you are going to update any rumors later , .but I was just curious if there were any serious leaf rumors were and what shot you give them of coming to fruition .
- .HOHO.

According to the Blackhawks blogger, something may be up between the Leafs and Chi-town.

He doesn't seem to play CHL graduates either, just ask Ross and McKegg the blue chippers.

Even if Reilly only plays a handful of games with the Marlies, practicing and playing in those few games is still more benifical to this development then sitting on his ass. I mean Moose Jaw has been eliminated, why not bring him up.

I think Reilly gets in quite a few games prior to the NHL trade deadline though, as another poster said, if Reilly preforms well it may show Leafs managment they can afford to move Jake Gardiner. Although I'd like to see Holzer sent down and Gardiner brought up, based soley on there play in the respective leagues.

As for Gardiner not being call up because he has to clear waivers if he's sent down, its not true. Its not like baseball where you have a number of times you can be brought up or sent down. Its based on your contract, Gardiner is still on his entry level contract so he is free to go up an down when the Leafs please. Holzer can also go up an down because he's still playing out his 2way contract. Kostka cannot be sent down without clearing waivers, either can Fraser.

Also in regards to him not playing CHL callups that often, I cant argue with it to much because based on his track record all the posters are correct. Although you have to remember the Marlies d-core last season was pretty deep.

You are mistaken, Gardiner has three games left for waiver exemption, as soon as he plays 3 more games with the Leafs he is waiver eligible.

- hooligoon

its Rielly, i before e

Also, if guelph beats kitchener then josh Leivo could join the marlies. it should be interesting to see what these young kids could do in the AHL. Biggs had a good year so I'm hoping he comes and plays amazing. Also can't wait to see Rielly play
