STUUUUUUU....

Also remember Bob-I-dropped-my-vial-Probert beating the sh!t out of him and Mike Peluso in those couple seasons early in the 90's when both those guys were on the 'Hawks and Probert was still with the Wings.

- blackhawk24

Peluso's son has been playing for Winnipeg. Same role. Looks a lot like pops.

Anyone remember Dave "Charlie" Manson? Loved that guy!!! Stopped fighting towards the latter half of his career because he actually learned how to be an effective hockey player...go figure

LeBrun on what the San Jose Sharks should do at the deadline, including whether to trade Ryane Clowe: “Know this: Whatever the Sharks decide to do, they saw this day coming. They’ve been planning for a long time that they would need to refresh their roster around this time. That’s why they’ve got only $27 million committed in salaries past the 2013-14 season, which affords them the roster/payroll flexibility to tweak away over the next two years.” [ESPN] http://espn.go.com/blog/n...-of-a-fresh-coat-of-paint

I have a friend in the Bay area who swears Doug Wilson is planning to raid the Hawks free agents over the next 2-3 years and has been planning to since the Kane/Toews signings in 9/10. Could that sort of LT planning even be possible in the cap era? Also, what is Doug Wilson's problem with the Hawks? This can't all be over Campbell.

JJ the Hawks scouted the Caps and Sabres yesterday, do you think Hendricks is a possibility?

Really? I swear the Jets announcers said this during one of his fights a week or so ago. He certainly has a resemblance.

I am relieved however as I was feeling very old thinking a Peluso child is already playing.

Well, I wish him good luck with that, he might get a sniff at Leddy or Stalberg this summer, should either get to FA. Or maybe Hammer or Crawford the year after.

It's really not til 2015 where the Hawks get in to a tougher situation, with Kane and Toews up.

Seems like Wilson's needs are more immediate over the next year or two. Further, if he is, indeed, predicating the build/rebuild of his team on raiding the Hawks, he should be fired, because it is D-U-M. And you can tell your friend that.

Thank you;I just looked at where the Rangers are in the standings... the same point total as Columbus.. Maybe Nash leaving Columbus isn't that big of a deal after all?
- victorymc98

How about Nashville with same amount as Columbus...

I think everyone here thinks that. SB is the one who counts.

If the Hawks could make some moves before the draft to regain some picks this is the year to do it. Very, very deep supposedly.

If I were Doug Wilson, who whspers have it is very tight with ownership,...

I would worry about still being there in the summer....

New head coach....new GM??

There isn't really enough to raid here to make the Sharks into a Cup team....Only Kruger and Leddy are RFA's???

99% sure they're not. Mike Peluso is an American. Anthony Peluso is from the Toronto area.

Would seem dumb. He may not have a job by 2015 the way things are going.

When and how did he and the Hawks fall out? You would think Wilson would have his own night or something. They did it when Esposito was still with TB.

Absolutely.

And while it is always good to have picks, especially in a good draft year, the Hawks have drafted a LOT of pretty decent prospects over the last three summers. Point being, Bowman would probably be smart to tweak the roster as opposed to adding a pick or two as he has a great shot at a Cup this year, but certainly far from guaranteed.

Not sure, water under the bridge. i don't think he did himself any favors with the Hjalmarsson thing, but there might have been some bad blood already then.

Wilson's team is old and slow, and some say heartless. That is his problem.

Wilson wanted to leave, only 2 times if Espo was one, have they honored a past player affiliated with another team....Last year Chelios.

Oh, miscommunication. Eli and I were talking about Calnan.
- nathanjf

If I'm not mistaken, Calnan has plans to play college hockey. If that's the case, having a pro contract would mess up his college plans.

Assuming Kane doesn't get back on the bottle and continues offensive production they'd both be signed long before they ever got a chance to get to the market right????

There was some bad feelings towards the Blackhawks, that is a fact. Doug knew that by signing Hjalmarsson to an offer sheet he'd walk away with either Hjlamarsson or Niemi.

I think it is more correct to say Wilson knew he would inflict some damage...

Word going around then was Sharp would be dealt, most thought Niemi would never be availble.

Wilson signed Niemi for less than he would have written an offer sheet....Got a bonus.

If Dallas falls out of it, do the Hawks look at Roy and Morrow? I certainly would.

I can say with certainty that he intended to walk away with either Hjalmarsson or Niemi. I'm not just saying this because it makes logical sense.

But I find it funny, for a guy that doesn't like the Hawks he's had a lot of former Hawks on his team over the past few years.

Leddy getting between $3.4M & $5.0M ?? Hmmmm....not exactly crazy. But with the lower cap in 13-14 it seems a little less likely. Hope the 'Hawks can secure him for well under $3.4M AAV.
- blackhawk24

Any offer sheet is going to be an overpayment, per se, because it has to be high enough for the team holding the player's rights to walk away. Otherwise all that is accomplished is that you allowed them to match and helped them re-sign their own player to (somewhat, at least) favorable terms.

Look at the last few offer sheets: O'Reilly, Weber, Hjalmarsson...all above market value at their respective times. Some, including me, would say considerably above market value.
