Made some enemies at AllState yesterday (gotta watch my P's and Q's since I have Rush ST's too). Lots of dirty looks when I cheered the 2 goals and then at the end was screaming

Great preview as usual JJ. Wondering if Colborne/Bozak may be the target in Leaf land.

Andrej Sustr is now a free to sign as an undrafted free agent after University of Nebraska-Omaha was eliminated. 6'8" RH Defensive D-man.

Looks like someone the Hawks could use. Question is if he is a good puck mover

If he's anything like Simon Danis-Pepin then he's a waste of time.

I like how the Wolves announcers are ripping Morin but don't say a word about #32 on the Wolves bench..
- Glenman12

Well the PbP guy doesn't have any history and colour guy Billy Gardner, IMO still harbours ill-will towards the Blackhawks Org for giving him the boot years ago.

Dude, Jay McClement is one of the best PKers in the league and pretty good on draws (though he's having an off year at 47% this year). He's also a good shot blocker.
- Kentxo

I think he could be the target for Bowman. I know they liked him over the summer.

I've got a used bong that I would trade for Komi and a 7th.

Can we get that in writing?

True, but if he is like Tyler Myers in Buffalo, well worth a shot. With the Hawks depth at D he would not need to be rushed

I'll never understand that.
- mrpaulish

I believe: Cuz WPG's AHL team (farm team of the Nux) had to move with the Thrashers moving to WPG to become the Jets. Since the Wolves were the Thrashers farm team, I guess it made it easiest that Chgo of the AHL would then be the farm team of the Nux.

Understand it's only a 2-yr original agreement. Don't know if that was extended.

If he was like Tyler Myers, he would have been drafted. This guy looks like a project.

I was thinking that while watching the game yesterday (and whenever these 2 teams play). If the fans in the stands are true hockey fans, how can they cheer for a Wolves victory over the Blackhawks minir league team? It just blows my mind how you can seperate NHL from AHL. I would think most fans are rooting for Rockford to win over Chicago when going head-to-head.

Forgot about him. I could see McClement being the target too. Good call

I disagree.

Most of the Wolves fans I've met are loyal to their team, whether they are Hawks fans or not.

A guy like McClement could also mean more limits on Toews' PK time. Crosby plays under a minute per game short handed...just sayin'.

I was thinking upside. Hey, just throwing the name out there. Looking for the future. I do agree that if he is another SDP then he should be avoided, but thought he may be worth a look. Only one way to find out ya know? Sign him, put him in a Hogs uniform and see what he can do. If he is the next Pepin, adios to him, if not, may be a value signing for another big body on the blueline

Do you think there would be extra motivation too because he played for St. Louis, or is that just fans reading more into the game.

Its odd.

All Hawks fans should be cheering for the dimise of the Canuckwolfs. I used to like gong there but how can you now. The Wolves are the Canucks. You should only wish terrible things on the Wolves franchise until they are unrelated to the Canucks.

I guess if you want to hand this kid an AHL deal and see what happens, that wouldn't hurt.

Hopefully they won't be the Canuck-Wolves next season.

The idea of a Vancouver affiliate in Chicago never seemed right to me anyways.

I'm from Toronto, and there is little to no chance the Leafs move Jay McClement unless the return is significant. I know hes merely a 3rd/4th line player, but the Leafs are very high on him. He can play the wing or center, is extremely good on faceoffs, a great penalty killer, can chip in offesnively from time to time, and is good for the younger guys on the roster.

One post mentioned Orr, now I can see that happening, although Randy Carlyle is pretty big on Orr, he loves his tough guys & I'm not so sure Nonis would be willing to move him.

Joe Colborne seems most likely of all the posts I've read. He's been pretty hot of late with the Toronto Marlies, but he has kind of fallen out of favour within the organization. An in my opinion he has never really lived up to his hype. He's a soft player, and is extremely inconsistent. He'll have hot stretches where he shows why he was a 1st round pick, but he also has very very cold streaks where you wonder why he isn't playing in the East Coast League.

Defense may be the ultimate targert though. The Leafs have 8 NHL calibre D up with the big club, Jake Gardiner knocking on the door, 8 guys playing with the Marlies who have all seen significant action throughout the AHL season. An now you can add last years 1st round pick Morgan Reilly to the fold with the Marlies, so theyre likely looking to move an AHL defensemen for an AHL forward, as the Marlies are some what thin up front, after losing, Frattin, Kadri, ad Komarov to the Leafs when the lockout ended, as well as losing Keith Aucoin to the NY Islanders threw waivers and trading Nic Deschamps to the the Hershey Bears for Kevin Marshall.

It's sort of how I approach it. Ya know John Anderson isn't there anymore as HC and players I really liked from years past like Maltais and now-GM Wendall Young are long since retired. So I had no problem going against the Wolves at least temporarily, as they are the farm team of the Nux. Can't support an organization whose prime purpose is to develop talent of one of your major league teams' arch rivals.

Now that said, I didn't get rid of my Wolves banners in the man-cave or my Wolves sweaters, shirts, etc. I just chose to disconnect with the brand while they are associated with the knuckleheads.

To frame this better, if the Wolves were the AHL team of the Wings or Blues could you support them? How about 20+ years ago from the old Norris division: Maple Leafs or North Stars? I couldn't....

Other possibilities are Kulemin, Bozak or Gardiner. Even though the Hawks have basically zero need for D. Bozak comes closest to checking all the boxes.

Ott would look great in an Indian Head

And I'm guessing Orr is who the Hawks might want from Toronto? No one else really makes sense given what Bowman has stated recently.

- Assman22

Ott is an idiot. You can have him. His act would get old fast here.

JJ, small tangent,

First thanks for posting picture of Mrs. JJ with your blog.

Second, what about giving Rosival some PP time? Didn't he do this in his younger days. Seems very poised and makes smart plays a lot.

Be a nice calming force out there. ....???

The Leafs want a top 6 forward and a 3-5th round pick for Gardiner, I doubt the Hawks are really willing to make a deal like that, especially considering they don't really need any D help. Well at least not to the point where they'd give up that much. The only way Bozak leaves Toronto is if another center of his calibre comes back. Its been stated in the news in Toronto, they are content to keep him an try and sign him prior to free agency, unless they fall out of the playoff hunt. Kulemin I agree with, the Leafs are defintiely open to moving him as hes more of a checking winger now then a scorer, I doubt he ever pops 30 goals again. He can probably be had for a 2nd rounder or a decent prospect. More likely to be packaged with a prospect for a top line player though.. according to all the rumours around T.O
