When will the owners / GMs realize it? - StLBravesFan
The owners can't help themselves....the last two work stoppages happened because they are clueless.....and just like last time they do it again. Crazy.....at least we won't have to worry about it for 8 years. |

True...However, they'll be close to 55 million with a 64.3 million cap, and needing to fill out 10 spots....Unless they trade Ryan at the draft, which could happen. - SteveRain
Bobby Ryan was signing over the summer at Total Hockey in Downers Grove. I took my 8 years old son to meet him (autographs were free) and I was impressed. Great young kid....actually stood up and shook my hand and thanked me and my son for coming.....my son greeted him with "What's up silver?".....and Bobby Ryan was like..."did you just call me silver?.....nice job kid!" Total class act. |

Yep...completely agree. Nick Kypreos said near the end of the lockout...players should take the deal, then the owners can get back to doing what they do best which is finding ways around their own CBA.
Just like clockwork...
The best players get the huge money while the rest split the remnants. Teams need to draft well to keep young talent in the pipeline, so they can turnover the vets when they get pricey. Occasionally supplement team needs with free agents.
Key going forward will always be the draft. |

Yep I mean how crazy was it that the owner of the Wild was one of the hardliners after just signing Suter and Parise to those ridiculous contracts. Then the Yotes who don't even have an owner sign Ekman Larsson to huge contract. That's why I couldn't understand why people were giving it to the players....

I could see the Hawks getting creative and signing Toews and Kane to long term deals like 7.5 per year but with a huge signing bonus with a guarantee of a personal services contract when their play days are through....

Me too....Who has a deep system out East? - UnnamedSource
I cant' tell ya...I know our system fairly well, but don't really keep a close eye on other systems. That's where scouting comes into play, and I think the Hawks are fine in that regard.
But who knows, they may make a play for veteran talent. |

Perhaps you're onto something there. I also wouldn't be surprised if both signed early extensions. Neither are going anywhere, anytime soon. |

I can see Toews taking less to help the team out some. He's that kind of guy. And obviously Kane can't make any more than Toews so that is good news |

I didn't think Ana. would spend over $16 mill per yr on 2 plyrs so now Rocky Wirtz knows what the future holds for his 2 prize possessions. - Al
Pretty sure neither one will sniff 50 goals like Perry. They will be lucky to get over 7 milly each |

I love 19 and 88, but you don't get paid 8 mill. if you only score 25-30 goals. |

We can debate his intelligence till the cows come home (B. Murray does have a ring as Burke's asst. in 2007), but the price is set. Core talent will make 7.5M plus...
...the question is, who will be the first to get a contract larger than Crosby.
Some fool owner will do it, ya just know it'll happen. |

Ovechkin
And Malkin will probably ask for more, and if PIT says no then someone will pay him more than Crosby |

Wow...just visited Capgeek.
Did you guys know that Travis "friggin" Zajac will make 5.75M per starting next year. That makes the Sharp deal look like a bargain.
and he's signed thru 2021 too. |
