Good riddance to the Aves as they head for last place finish in the west unless the Flames what to challenge for that honor. What a weak team with no team def and pathetic along the boards. Never been fan of how they play. They can play off the rush but limit those chances and they suck!!

These max deals will kill the mid level guy's earning potential. Teams can't pay the big guys and spread the money out longer...Ie...Keith, Crosby, Hossa, Luongo, etc....Instead, these deals will take up 20-30% of cap space limiting what the Dave Bollands, Bryan Bickells, etc can earn.

You also may see older guys wanting "one last shot' take less $$ to sign with teams with younger stars to make a run....

Better draft AND develop well to restock your 2nd and 3rd tier players....

They'll definitely set the market. I find it interesting that people point to Kane's "maturity" in th raising of his game. I think he sees dollar signs and knows he needs a couple of solid campaigns to TRUELY cash in.

...this is not a criticism..just speculation

If signing bonuses don't effect the cap maybe the Hawks go the route of a HUGE signing bonus for both but less money per year compared to Perry/Getzlaf....etc. Just a thought......
