Most here seemed moderately neato, of course that could just be the meds kicking in.
And now for something completely different.
The Flyers need one or more of the following: good defensemen, young defensemen, puck moving defensemen, forwards that backcheck and a backup goalie. Also all of the above should be acquired for Mike Knuble and multiple 4th round draft picks. Finally many of us seem to enjoy quirky Coen brothers films.

- BiggE

Thanks, this helps sum up how to proceed from here.

As to "quirky Coen brothers films," are there any other kind?

Burn after reading took a couple viewings. I finally watched The Man who Wasn't there and it was brilliant.

It's funny, but my mom and I can watch all the Coen Bros movies and die laughing, but my wife only likes Lebowski and Fargo.

- Jsaquella

I love Burn After Reading, but TBL is timeless. I just watched for the first time in X months last night (inspired by you buzzards), to see what condition my condition was in. I still have yet to see Fargo, I'm thinking I might tackle it tonight.

Haven't seen that. I'm a fan of John Malkovich, guy is a fantastic actor. I will see it soon.
- PLindbergh31

Malkovich is excellent in it. That one led me to watch Being John Malkovich, which might be the most... um, unique movie I've ever seen

The thousands of dollars I invest in tickets says otherwise.

If they can win tonight, they get a ton of time off to calmly extract their collective heads from their asses and maybe, just maybe, if the right things fall into place, they can make a run at the 8th playoff spot.

Have you seen "Red"? It's got Bruce Willis, Malkovich, Morgan Freeman and Helen Mirren. Willis, Malkovich and Freemen are retired CIA operatives who are being hunted down over a mission from 1981 in Guatemala to hide a secret from a powerful politican's past.

It's a lot of fun and Malkovich is awesome in it.

LOL on the jerseys..

So they don't receive any money from the other teams to top them up? If not and they are running profits, then more power to them. If they are not a healthy franchise (as has been reported many times over the years) then there is no discussion. Keep Weber, enjoy the profits and playing in a solid market.

- Hextall271

They do get the top-up.

I'm just saying that if you are looking to lop off or relocate 3-4 franchises, Nashville doesn't belong on the list.

And according to Forbes, they lost about $3.4 million last year. So with the new financial structure of the league from the CBA, heck, you might even see a profit in Nashville this year.

Put another way, it's a very solid "new" market - they've done a great job of creating hockey fans from a base of zero.

He is, but in Red he's really fantastic. The guy he plays is paranoid and subjected to 11 years of LSD testing...he's a riot.

I'm interested to see what things look like after the long break. A good number of those games in hand everybody has over us should be played. At that point, we'll have a better look at just how deep a hole the Flyers dug themselves.

Anyone have a scouting report on Douglas Murray? All I know is that he is Swedish, big, and on the rumor chart such as it is.

No, it's a lot better than the generic wasted, burn out English rock star impression that Mike Myers has beaten to a bloody pulp.

Wasn't a big fan of Burn After Reading.

To me, the joy of TBL was that it wasn't trying to be quirky - it just was. The film itself was a perfect reflection of the characters - it just did what it did, completely unaware (or unconcerned) of how the outside world would perceive it.

Burn After Reading was them saying "Look at us, this is a quirky film - aren't we quirky?!?"

Your earlier post seemed to imply that your rooting interest is based upon their record.

They're not mathematically eliminated and, as we're just one year removed from a #8 seed winning the Cup, I'm not about to give up.

Honestly, he's a lot like Nik Grossmann. Big, good defensive defenseman. Not exactly what the Flyers need, but he's tough as nails, maybe even better than Big Nik

He was brilliant in it.

I don't even particularly like In the Line of Fire. Malkovich is unreal in that. The Mitch Leary character was stellar.

Like Joe said, he's great in everything.

I saw John Goodman on Inside the Actors Studio, he said Lebowski was by far his favorite project. Said he had so much fun on the set he would have done the movie for free.

The scene with the ashes is hysterical.

I'm not a big movie buff but for me, I think it's the funniest thing I've ever seen in a movie
