It's a classic for sure. Those Cohen Brothers are a couple of geniuses.
- PLindbergh31

I remember watching Burn After Reading, which I think was my first Coen Brothers movie, and not 'getting it' at first. It seemed like a quirky drama, but it hadn't occurred to me it was a comedy until halfway through the movie. At that point, the humor of, well, the entire first half dawned on me. Boy, was that a trip!

the flyers always over pay....you know it.
- Philly1980

I would love to know what the second highest bid was for Pronger when they acquired him with only 1 year left on his contract. Also add in the fact that teams (well at least the flyers) weren't permitted to talk to him beforehand to work out an extension.

I bet the Flyers were negotiating against themselves quite a bit but you never hear about the bid that came in second.

Discussion of the possibility of the Flyers making a late gallant charge, adjustments to the defense, the possibility of Nashville trading Shea Weber, the plot line of the beaver picture, the Flyers defense next season, Ray Emery, and how ya gonna keep 'em down on the farm once they've met Karl Hungus.

The mood is mellow

Yeah, I always thought that he got thrown under the bus in Ottawa. Of course, there were...ahem...off-ice issues that played a big part in that.

I had wanted the Leafs to sign him in recent years as a backup - who doesn't want a goalie who is the toughest guy on the ice? But I can understand why teams would be reluctant to sign a goalie with avascular necrosis. He's one butterfly save away from shattering his hip.

- Atomic Wedgie

No disease with the word "necrosis" in it can be good in any way, shape, or form.

If they actually beat Tampa tonight, I'm gonna have that whole Pacino "Just when I was out, they pull me back in" thing going on.

Burn after reading took a couple viewings. I finally watched The Man who Wasn't there and it was brilliant.

It's funny, but my mom and I can watch all the Coen Bros movies and die laughing, but my wife only likes Lebowski and Fargo.

Most here seemed moderately neato, of course that could just be the meds kicking in.
And now for something completely different.
The Flyers need one or more of the following: good defensemen, young defensemen, puck moving defensemen, forwards that backcheck and a backup goalie. Also all of the above should be acquired for Mike Knuble and multiple 4th round draft picks. Finally many of us seem to enjoy quirky Coen brothers films.

According to Forbes, Nashville is only the 11th worst franchise in terms of operating income.

Friends go down to Nashville once a year to catch a game - they say it's one of the best game experiences in the NHL. Fans aren't particulary knowledgeable, but they are rabid. Add to that the music bars before and after the game, and it's a helluva road trip.

Oh, and everyone there wears a Preds jersey. I knew you would respect that, Hexy.

- Atomic Wedgie

LOL on the jerseys..

So they don't receive any money from the other teams to top them up? If not and they are running profits, then more power to them. If they are not a healthy franchise (as has been reported many times over the years) then there is no discussion. Keep Weber, enjoy the profits and playing in a solid market.
