Solid point, but what if Nashville falls out of playoff contention and values a top 5 pick more than 2 or 3 Flyers 1st rounders in the 20+ range? Would you trade a top 5 pick, a 2014 1st, Gus and Cousins for Weber?
- jstross

Yes. But the Preds can't trade Weber until July 24th, which is about a month after the draft.

That's great but this team doesn't have a playoff run in them. They are a mess 5 on 5.

Trade Iguodala for a cripple that won't play a game. What an embarrassment. At least Denver is worse than the Sixers. Only saving grace.

I know you aren't an NBA fan, but I hope you don't think LeBron will win another championship before the Flyers get one..... Do you?
- PLindbergh31

i have no idea of what lebron's situation is, other than he's on the heat. right now, i feel like every pro fanchise in every sport will win a title before the flyers.

yeah ... well, depends on your definition of mild I suppose. A coaching change would be severe, but I don't think Homer is going to trade two of the top 6 forwards.
- FlyerGuy

Homer needs to do 4 things, first and foremost, get another coach like yesterday, draft well this year, get another defenseman, find a backup that can start more than two games and lose. Is that major? Maybe maybe not

Weber isnt going anywhere especially for Cousins and Gus. And If I get a top 3 pick I dont even move it for Weber. I would rather have the stud prospect on a rookie deal than take on Webers cap hit.

The Flyers had enough in them tonight, despite the slip ups, to win...they hit 3 posts and outshot the Bolts. It was unfortunate, but honestly, I've written this season off a while back.

There were just too many challenges to overcome in this abortion of a season in terms of injuries and adjustments (or the lack thereof) and not enough time to get healthy, correct the mistakes and gel as a young, developing team. Homer should be patient... take the remainder of the season to make an assessment of the team...look at each player... his age, salary/cap hit, strengths, weaknesses, potential etc. See what the team's needs are.

Look at the coaching staff. speak with Lavy and others to see if they have an awareness of the issues and a viable plan to impart the necessary corrections and guide the young players as they develop.

Be on the lookout for a #1 D man. Until one gets here this will likely be a priority for the Flyers who, despite having numerous top 4 caliber D men when healthy, don't have a bonafide #1, especially with Timonen seemingly losing a step or two and struggling defensively. There are a number of assets that could be packaged and traded for a top defenseman. I feel a guy like Dustin Byfuglien, if he's available, would be a good fit. He would bring big production from the blueline as an offensive defenseman and be an imposing/intimidating force in the defensive zone. I don't hink WPG is moving him though. Not that he's the near term answer, but I would try like heck to sign this big College guy coming out, Sustr.

Flyers courting 6-foot-8 defenseman Andrej Sustr

POSTED: Monday, March 18, 2013, 7:49 PM

TAMPA, Fla. -- With the end of some NCAA hockey seasons last weekend, the race to ink undrafted free agents is on.

The Flyers have already begun courting Univ. of Nebraska-Omaha defenseman Andrej Sustr, who officially announced on Monday that he will not be returning to school for his senior season. He’s a player the Flyers have kept their eye on for years.

It’s easy to see why. Sustr, 22, is a 6-foot-8 physical specimen on the blue line. He is a Czech Republic native but has been playing North American hockey since 2008, when he joined Kenai River in the United States’ second-tier NAHL junior league.

The scouting report on Sustr is that he "skates fine" and he's a good puck mover, but his decision-making process could be improved.

I don't know about that ... at least the Eagles GM and coach seem to be on the same page as far as the types of players they want.

Homer and Lavy aren't.

Ugh, however an agreement can be made to draft a player of the other teams choice in agreement to a future trade? not sure how the NHL works, but they could work out something unless there's rules against it.

If and only if upper management and ownership agree to rebuild and stop throwing away picks, I'd take the pick. If I couldn't get a webber or top Dman.

Im just saying tank by selling players. This will only help the makeover process
- FrankDrebbin

i'm on board for selling vets, no doubt. my point was that i won't be rooting for them to lose games

i feel they should also do some tweaking with roles.... like if they trade some vets, give young guys shot in different spots. one of those tweaks: i'd be trying rinaldo on the pk. if he's gonna be a part of this team moving forward as a bottom 6 forward, that can be a valuable skill. might as well let him take a few swipes at it while the flyers are out of the race

The Perry re-signing doesn't automatically mean a Ryan trade, either. Ducks have about $11mm in space to fill 5 or 6 spots.

I'm sorry, but if your paying a goalie six million dollars a year. The so called goalie needs to be able to post a better save percentage than .885.

Ranked 38/46 in the NHL in goal percentage. HAHAHAHAA

Why would Nashville do the Flyers a favor like that? If they put Weber on the market, there's 25+ teams that would be serious bidders.

Hey, I did at least have a link...

I know this board is kind of schizophrenic, but I still find it pretty ironic that people poke fun at me posting youtube links...as if providing video evidence (custom produced no less) is somehow a bad thing and worthy of ridicule, especially given the preponderance of posts made without context and/or detail.
